Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Excellent question. It loves crankshafts.... elevator not so much! The tail was CA'd in place... so it was bound to happen. Tri-Stock on both sides as of today. I will cover it back up later.

    Sport Restoring A Different Laser

Picture worthy for sure! What a beaut! Sounds like the builder went was meticulous, show quality and a flier. Why the change from the DLE61 to the 3W55? Which MKS servos?

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

The 120" TBM looks like FUN... except for transporting. I have a MMW Beaver kit!!! I have not started to build it, as my Otter is still in the build stage.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Thanks Guys! I'm absolutely fond of her! I would say the 84" TBM and the 110" Timber are in a different class due to size, weight, and powerplants. The TBM is purposely built electric thus it is light. It has fiberglass struts, superb quality control and engineering. They are planning on making...

    Here's what I used/still have. I ran them off a A123 2500, TechAero IBEC, off a Futaba receiver. Savox (x6) SC-0254MG for all surfaces https://www.savoxusa.com/products/savsc0254mg-std-digital-servo-14-100 Savox SV-0220MG throttle...

Had a little helper (not much help if any) in the shop. More like a supervisor. I think she said it isn’t airworthy yet. So back at it another evening.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Busted out some skis I made years ago for a plane that is no longer with me. Got me thinking! My 84” TBM could use them. My original design uses some car shocks (TMAXX) and I just finished printing some holders to mount to the gear legs. I’ll have to fit and secure everything now. The green...

    H9 15cc Carbon Cub

I have the servos from my Carbon Cub if your interested. The guy that purchased my plane wanted to go another route. Not sure what radio system you are using or power source.

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

PMT replied to my question. Their reasoning is they cannot provide proof of delivery which is a pre-requisite for selling their item tax free. They did say that within a few months they are going to sell them on Amazon. Which is very intriguing... 8" AirTops are $90/set 8.75" PRs were $125/set...

    H9 15cc Carbon Cub

Those HS-311 are not suited for gas engine vibrations. I looked them up, they are analog, nylon bushing, 3-pole ferrite, with 50oz/in at best torque with resin gears... they will eat themselves. Get some standard metal gear servos closer to 80oz/in. As far as the pulse port, I’m not sure what...

    H9 15cc Carbon Cub

Thanks for the kind words! The stinger engines are made with new gravity castings for the cylinders. My old version had casting imperfections. So this is an improvement. Angled plugs are nice for fitting in a cowl, but actually produce a little less power than strait plugs. As far as vibration...

91" SkyWing ARS 300 Assembly Thread

Interesting, did you include the wing/tail mounting hardware with the goldwing? As it's built into the frame with the SW. Regardless, it's about a pound heavier by your comparison. The fuel tank could be lighter too, it's pretty robust. Thanks for sharing!

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Ali just recovered the Timber, not to be confused with a new model/version FYI. I reached out via e-mail to PMT about there 262mm tires. I think they are trying to tell me it’s too much work to removed the 19% tax and will be invoiced with it. Which is a big difference in the end cost. The 19%...
