    GP 76 twin gas engine

I've been looking at this thing for quite some time. I don't like being the test subject on a new product, but now that they've been flying for the whole summer, I've heard nothing but good comments, cannot beat the price with mufflers and the power that comes with it. Someone mentioned that no...

Going to use some MPX connectors for the wings. Always takes me a while to figure out where to hardmount them. This seems like the ideal location since the can be plugged in from the top or through the canopy.

Getting my DLE55RA ready. Installed a bowman ring (Bjorn Baal is he new owner) I got this one from VVRC. OEM ring was .011 gap. Bowman came at 0.001 gap! I prefer a little bit more so I filed it to a .003” gap. It’ll break in and open up a bit more, still way better than the OEM. Gap was...

I hear ya. I'm becoming more a fan of equal distance from the pivot points. I have no research. What I do know is that the lower hole is roughly just below 1.5" from the hinge line, and the upper hole is roughly just below 1.75" from the hinge line. So If I use a 2" arm, I'll have the option of...

I played with my DLE20 that’s supposed to go in the glitter. Put a bowman ring on. 0.004” Gap wow. Slapped a little VVRC bling on the diaphragm plate. Then check the timing. Stock was 35’ and brought it closer to 30.

Glued my wing control horns in. I didn’t bother taping. Fill the slots with epoxy, nice thin coat of epoxy and it does on pretty even and squishes our a bit. Any excess is cleaned up with a towel soaked in isopropyl alcohol.

Ran out of servo wire.. Hanson hobbies to the rescue. I have some twisted 20ga enroute. Also, I don’t like the carb arms supplied. Ordered up some extended arms for the DLE55. Along with that, a bowman ring, and a fancy carb plate from VVRC.... shoot maybe I should have just got the DA60 ha ha...

Prepped the control horns with 100 grit, and wiped with isopropyl, touched the corners with a file. One thing I’ve never understood is why make a beveled control surface with a setup that won’t allow you to hit the stops. This is my newest debacle Long 2” arm on the lower control horn...

Solved my engine mount spacer debacle. Had a nice chunk of phenolic that’s just over a 1/4” thick. Perfecto. Found a 7/8” hole saw with a little bit that was drilled out to accommodate the bolts... in which I got some longer ones as well. I now have enough cowl to spinner clearance to make me happy.

I measured the cowl on post #33 on page 4. FWIW the VVRC 40cc twin is 8" across cap to cap (angled plugs) and still 7" head to head. The Timber is 8" across at the back of the cowl and tapers forward to about 6.5" in the front. If I do some rude calculations 3" back from the top of the cowl...

True! Hard to beat a DA! The one thing I know is that the DLE55 has a pretty decent reputation, otherwise I would have gone with the DA as well. One thing to keep in mind is that the DLE Muffler doesn't weigh anything. However, it does look on paper that the DLE weighs almost a half pound...

Sounds like the nose likes a little more weight up front than a 35cc has for balancing. So at least a 50cc in my book. DLE55RA is on sale at NWRC FYI! https://northwestrc.com/DLE55RA--55cc-REAR-EXHAUST-Aircraft-Gas-Engine_p_1070.html Which is half the cost of a DA60! Food for thought. I think...

Looking like I’m going to need at least a 1/4” spacer for the engine mounts for the prop hub to make it through. Even in the manual they have you put a spacer on for the evo33. There is no mention on the dle 55. The supplied mounts will bring the 55 to almost flush or a decent gap. So time to...
