    Too old to "HUCK"?

I'm 53. I've learned more about flying model airplanes in the last 4 years, since I got back in and went to gas airplanes, then I did in all the years before. I'm a MUCH better pilot now. I still suck at 3D, but I love to try. It's exciting to learn something new! I get a great sense of...

Stupidest thing you have ever done RC related.

While this one never happened to me, we used to pylon race 1/2A airplanes at my old field. They were small, no throttle, wide open all the time and fast as hell. More than once I saw a team start the plane and hand launch, but had never turned the airplane on. Now keep in mind we flew from...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I'll be doing that tomorrow night. I'm as far as I can go wiring my Goblin 570 until I get some male to male extentions.:(

Stupidest thing you have ever done RC related.

While we're airing the dirty linen I'll add two more that ended up fine, but could have been very ugly if it wasn't for dumb luck. Last spring I was helping a friend with his DA200 powered Carf SU-31. We had just started it, pulled out the padded pipe restraints and he had just started to taxi...

    180" Pilot Decathlon

What, you couldn't find anything bigger?;) Very cool!

Stupidest thing you have ever done RC related.

Mine is a toss up between two from back in the 80's. crashing a beautiful Super Aeromaster on it's maiden flight because the ailerons were reversed, crashing a Decathlon because the antennae was down, and in 2011 doing what @stangflyer did and carried an inverted flat spin too low with a snap...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I stopped at the hardware store on the way in this morning and they had a package of 1/4" which should work if it will slip over the servo connecter. What I normally use is 1/4", but there seems to be a big range of sizes that they call 1/4".

We've got a really good hardware store here in town. That's my first stop in the morning to see what they have for heat shrink tubing.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I started the night wanting to put some snake skin on the wiring on my Goblin heli. That lasted just long enough to find out that I didn't have enough of the right size heat shrink to do more than two servo leads. S0 I went through all my screws and nuts and such to put in an order with...

    3D Viper build log (maybe)

I only brought up the composite idea for the other one he was working on. I'm going to have to try the CA your using Terry on my next project. It sounds like it works well. I don't know if it's just me, but I was always a Zap user in the past and Hot Stuff before that (showing my age there)...

    3D Viper build log (maybe)

I've done it like that on formers in a composite airplane and it works fine. The method was tack the former in with CA then make a filet on each side with Hysol. But composite structures are a different animal than wood. On a interlocking wood fuse I would go a different route. Terry's way seems...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Between last night and today I removed every bolt, ball, screw and nut from my Goblin 570 and reassembled it with Loctite. Next I need to redo and tidy up all the wiring. Then I need to find someone to tidy up my workbench.;)

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It looks like it's going to be like that here today as well, so I'll be in the shop disassembling and reassembling the Goblin 570 I just got. After tinkering with it a bit it was obvious that who ever built it doesn't know the meaning of the word Loctite! The hazards of buying used, but...
