Slowly but surely.... The light in the garage doesn't do this metallic teal justice. I'm down to one aileron and the stabs and elevators!! I'm really getting excited about this thing by now. The paint should be here mid week and I hope to be ready for it by then. I can't wait to get it all...

    Scale 50% Dalotel 165

The effort you put forth to make one seemingly insignificant part, makes it seem like that part will be the focal point of the model. Then I remember that the whole plane receives this attention to detail.... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Simply superb craftsmanship! Now I need a...

    Covering questions

Well I've been working on this thing most evenings except this evening. I have the base coat of yellow on everything except the ailerons. Now I'm ready to start adding the colors that really make it pop! I've got an order in for paint at Wings West RC. I'm going to give their paint matching...

    Covering questions

Yes they are. I glued them in, then marked for my hinges, used a hot soldering iron as a center punch to keep the drill bit from wandering, and then drilled them out. After that I sanded them down to match the bevel.

    Covering questions

I've been dabbling with this thing when I get a chance in the evenings or over noon hour. I drilled all the hinge holes out and plugged them with a dowel. Then I marked the centerline carefully and drilled for new hinges. Now I'm sanding them down to match the bevel. Some of the covering...

    Covering questions

I sure hope it turns out somewhat like I envisioned! I finally got all the aileron hinges and rudder hinges removed. Now I need to get over to @ericrs and use some of his tools![emoji3] I need a good bit to drill the holes for the hinge hole plug. Then I'll plug them with a piece of dowel and...

    Covering questions

Well I've been working off and on over the last several days on this thing and now I have all the old ultra off. I used some filler on some dents, soaked a few cracks in the sheeting with CA, and have most of the rough sanding done. There was just a bit of tackiness on parts of the wood from...

    Covering questions

Couple questions again. How is the best way to cover around control horns? Remove the little plate that aligns them so you can get covering under them? I got to the "local" hobby shop (3 hrs away) and looked at covering options. I've been scared away from monokote by several experiences by...

    Covering questions

Silly question, but is it possible to leave everything hinged? I need to rehinge the elevators anyway but not the ailerons. I guess it's not that difficult to hinge them up again, but I don't look forward to pulling them all out...
