    74" Edge 540

I find it helpful to repeat the following: "It's only a toy plane". :D Thanks Moose. Still haven't heard back from anyone at HQ. Marc

    74" Edge 540

Thanks for the replies. I've also come to the conclusion that it can only be set up pull-pull. Only problem is my kit is missing one control horn. A couple guys have offered to send me a spare control horn they have which I really appreciate. But I figured I would just contact 3DHS for the...

    74" Edge 540

Thanks for the suggestions SnowDog. The only thing I can think is that maybe the newer version of the airframe is different or maybe just mine was assembled differently? I can actually look inside the fuselage and see the cutout pattern. I can also run my fingers around the outline from the...

    74" Edge 540

I appreciate the offer. I'll wait a few days to see what 3DHS can do before I take you up on your offer. And thanks for posting the pics. That was helpful. Marc

    74" Edge 540

I found two other guys who said they used pull-pull with a gas engine and got correct CG. I've got an email into 3DHS for the missing control horn. If that results in little satisfaction, I'll get some material and cut my own with a scroll saw. Stay tuned. ;) Marc

    74" Edge 540

Sound advice. Not sure I trust the manual though since it is actually for the 72" Extra (even though 3DHS says to use it for the 74" Edge) and there are obvious differences between the servo bays shown for the Extra in the manual and the servo bays for the Edge airframe sitting in my living...

    74" Edge 540

Just looked and I only have four sets of the double control horns. If I go pull-pull on the rudder I figure I need five sets (two for rudder, two for ailerons and one for elevator). Hmmmm. I'll email 3DHS and ask for another. Is this thing a standard size that can be bought elsewhere? Marc

    74" Edge 540

My ailerons came glued and the gap was taped. At least they seem glued. I tug on them and they are tight. The rudder and elevator halves came with hinges just pushed in place with no glue on either half. Then there were the 20 extra hinges in the bags. Hmmmm. Maybe there are a lot more control...

    74" Edge 540

The other odd thing about the hardware pack is that I have 20 extra hinges (that's not an exaggeration), 2 extra aluminum axles (those may come in handy on a hard landing), and 2 extra thumb screw wing bolts. But no pushrod long enough for the rudder. Marc

    74" Edge 540

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Either way I go I'm going to need to get some additional hardware. If I go pull-pull I'll need a longer double servo arm. If I go push-pull I need a longer threaded pushrod as the kit didn't come with a pushrod long enough for the rudder. Marc

    74" Edge 540

Thanks for the replies. I assume both of the servos bays I see are for a dual elevator setup. I don't see a third servo bay at the tail. So the only rudder configuration for this airframe is pull-pull? Marc

    74" Edge 540

Can you use Push-Pull Rudder? Hey guys. I'm working on installing the tail surface control horns on my 74" Edge. The manual (3DHS says to use the 72" Extra 300SC manual) states to use tail mounted Push-Pull rudder for the DLE30 gas engine to achieve proper CG. The issue is that the only two...

    74" Edge 540

I got all excited about starting my build after being out of town for a week. But I discovered that I don't have enough epoxy to even squeeze it out of the bottle and my thin CA bottle is so crapped up that I can't use the nozzle. Tower Hobby should come to my rescue by next weekend. So far my...

    3DHS Planes Picture Thread

This was my little 41" Edge getting wet at its first float fly this summer. Yes, it took a big hit in performance with the extra weight. But hovering and harrier water landings made up for it. Marc

I got the red. Oh, so sexy. :-) The build may not start for a couple weeks, but I'll post some photos. Probably for for advice than instruction though. Marc

    74" Edge 540

The poor UPS driver must have been working overtime because this box was delivered at 8:30 this evening. I did a cursory inspection and everything looks good so far. Five foot tall wife included in photo for size reference. :) Marc

    74" Edge 540

Got an email today saying that my 74" Edge has shipped from Lancaster. I've got a new DLE30 and servos waiting on my bench. My first gasser. :D Marc
