Currently working on the left wing. I finished the center section/booms/stab. Just needs final finishing and sanding before being glassed. Currently working on cleaning up the work area and getting the control surfaces on the left wing all sorted out.

Great, thank you for the suggestions!! Not much new since the last post other than I'm moving forward with the wiring and control surface setup of the left wing. Hoping to have that done this weekend.

Need recommendations for a primer. I ordered a quart of Klass Cote and two colors for the finish. I have the glass cloth and Z-Poxy ready to go. Just gotta finish up the control surface linkages for the left side of the plane, temp install the cowls and cut them as needed, then it's time to...

I've moved onto the elevator and rudder linkage setups. Early on in the build when I built the horizontal stab, I installed the servos onto plates that would be screwed into the stab. I wasn't completely satisfied with the strength of the setup but didn't want to install the servos inside the...

Yes, you're right. I just don't want them to stretch too much and tear off in flight.

I recently realized that with the actual construction of the airframe complete (except for the struts) it is now time to plan and take care of the final assembly setup tasks: -Ignition installed for rear engine. Front ignition is ready to be mounted on front firewall after it is glassed...

The more I look at it, I think it will be very little extra work to do it this way, and the results will be worth it!

I'm not sure what you mean by countersinking the wing bolts. I did consider bolting them in from the inside and having blind nuts in the wings. I'd access the inside of the fuse through the door (that I have yet to cut out) and screw in the bolts from inside the fuse.

Some additional time spent today sanding that center section. I then set it aside and looked at the wings to get moving on the hinging of the left aileron and flaps. In looking at others' projects, I saw this YouTube video of how one person handled the flap linkage, and I really like it and may...

Glad I still have a couple people following the build! The past couple of days I have been working on the center section above the fuselage and working out how the air scoop is going to sit. One challenge has been that the plans and parts do not all fit to the design very well. The upper...

Progress is being made once again! I finally came up with a plan for the dowels that go from the wing leading edge into the ply former at the front of the wing saddle. I fabricated a piece of 1/4" ply and did my best to get it incorporated into the wing structure to spread out the load from...

Okay, so I've finished with the sheeting on the wing center section for the most part. I still have to install the inner flap servo for one side. I can only describe this omission as extreme slackery. But, to make up for that slackery, I built one of the inner flaps. They are not rectangular...

No gorilla glue, got it. I am fine with 30 min epoxy for hinging. I'll stick with what is on the plans for now as far as the flap hinges go. Tonight I worked on finishing the underside of the boom where it meets the wing. In looking at the plans, it appears that the wing struts connect to the...

Thank you for the response. So, you don't recommend gorilla glue for these hinges?

Need your advice folks (if anyone is still following this boring build!). This is my first scale build. While I am far from being a purist, I am trying to have some semblance of the real aircraft. Looking at the "scale" style of installing the Robart hinges for the flaps, I am worried they...

I've moved onto sheeting the underside of the center section. It involves laying the wiring. I'm pretty set at this point on having one Rx in the wing for the 10 servos for the control surfaces and light controller then a second Rx in the fuse for the nose wheel, throttles, chokes, and starters...

Ran into a problem. My son told me that the wing halves looked really small. This led me to prove to him that it was indeed a big airplane, so while I had the center section upside-down on the bench, I tried to put one of the wing halves on. I then discovered that it would not easily slide into...
