Today I worked on the wing mounting bolts. I also tried what the owner of the local hobby shop recommended and mixed some micro balloons with finishing epoxy to see how that works for a filler before I go and spend $40 on the Blue Icing that was recommended. I have to try what I have on hand...

Yes, good advice! I'm new to this, so I appreciate any advice you all have.

The whole fuselage is now glassed. Hoping to get the center section finished and glassed this weekend. I may take a day off from work to get the sanding and priming of everything hopefully mostly done. Progress!

I know. I am going to be a nervous wreck, but I can't wait!

Thank you! I've wondered what other folks use for a filler! I've been using light weight spackle. I will pick up some of the Blue Icing filler from Napa. I'm all about trying new products and finding what works best for me.

Spent some time sanding the other wing half and the one I already primed. I hate the way the primer shows so many imperfections! I've also been working on finishing glassing the remaining control surfaces and the struts/fairings. I bought a palm/random orbital sander and some papers for it...

Thank you very much! Again, this is my first attempt at this type of a build. Never glassed before. Never had to do this type of finishing work. It's been a learning experience, and I've enjoyed almost all of it. Just not liking the sanding, but I'm working through it!

Oh, I can't complain to you then. =-) You must have patience in your blood. Honestly, I like everything about building EXCEPT sanding!

The messy work bench!! I've pretty much finished with the cowls. Still trying to decide on how to conceal the wing bolt holes. I may end up re-drilling smaller holes and using metal bolts. I'm not happy with the way the first holes turned out at all. I'm also working on glassing the...

Yes, lots of carving! I remember trying to build a Pica FW190D9 when I was a kid, and there was a LOT of carving and sanding to be done!!

I've been busy working on the struts and mounting the cowls. The struts and fairings were just blocks of balsa, and after a lot of work are now complete. They attach using dowels and fit snugly into place with the center section attached. The cowls attach using several 6/32 bolts into...

I am going to have to decide on how to do panel lines pretty quick here. If any of you have a favorite method, please let me know.

So..... I've been glassing like crazy, but it is slow going! The right wing is upside-down in the photo, mounted on the left side temporarily while the primer dries. I'm also half done with glassing the left wing. Yes, I'm not doing everything in the right order, I know. I wanted to prime the...

Thanks for the advice guys. I will probably try the rattle can primer on the small pieces and see how it turns out before I try hunting down the expensive stuff. I spent a small fortune on Klasscote paint, so maybe that will help make up for it? I'm going to follow Jetpainter's advice on...

I am having some trouble getting the primer from O'Reilly's that was recommended. Would either of these rattle can primers be acceptable do you think?

This was my first attempt at glassing EVER. I was able to sand it down to fairly smooth. I will experiment with priming it and see what happens. As usual, I really appreciate the advice!

Control linkages are mostly complete. Trying my hand at fiberglassing now. These are potential hatches for the right aileron and outer flap servos. If they turn out okay, I'll use them. If not, I'll remake them and try again.
