Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

At this point I think this joint will be as good as I can get it. Bury the screws and butt joint in Hysol, counter sink the higher screw and grind the lower screw head and move on to the next step.

Much better. M2 is the correct size. Tony, I agree, this is definitely a weak spot. I will put more thought into this before I assemble.

Communicating now with Jim Reeves of Mick Reeves Models. A short kit with ribs, formers and all non metal parts is pretty cheap. Something tells me a 117" biplane with a multi cylinder 4 stroke doing a slow stalling wingover with smoke on would be pretty cool.

I would rather build than design. Assuming you mean scratch build.

Yes, I know but not in civilian paint. Tiger Moth as well but can be done in civilian. Just not interested in P51/ME109/Spitfire/Etc/etc.

Thinking Tiger Moth but big. Bob Holman plans (no response from him) are purportedly accurate but not quite big enough. The bigger the 4 cycle engine the better is my preference. Emailed Mick Reeves (purportedly true 1/3 scale) several times but no response either. Any ideas or other planes...

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Here but the smallest screw which is all I needed unfortunately is too big. I will have to order the next size down. 2mm I guess.

Working on the cabin area tonight. One definite is connecting ANY wood to steel requires more than Hysol/jb weld. Tried that.... I'll run a screw through the 2 materials as well as jb weld or Hysol. Pin is a temporary holder.

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

I have a 14" Jet bandsaw, I think it came automatically with a fence. The 4" riser and cart were extra though.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Back to work is more like it. Even though I'm the owner I still work a lot. And headed out to visit parents next week so no Cub update until mid April most likely. Would love to find some flying time.
