Although I will say some of the newer ones are totally rad. The DA70 arrived back at the HQ today, now I anxiously await a phone call to see what the damages were.

It was blowing pretty good last night around here, I'd say probably gusts to 25-30.

Hey what do you guys use for a workbench topper material? I'm looking for something that won't scratch covering and isn't too expensive, and also isn't a towel or carpet

That is an Anderson Power Pole (APP) connector. I hate them, they never clip together firmly and you need to buy a special crimping tool just to crimp the spades inside together properly. I always have to zip tie them together just to get a firm connection, which is why I use Deans or EC3/5's...

That was the 2nd flight of the day, packs were freshly recharged the night before. I am sticking with the power being removed, that seems the most likely scenario here. The post-crash analysis only gave me theories and no actual hard evidence.

The way I have my receiver power setup would mean that both batteries would have had to fail under load- not that it matters, the HSB-9485SH's won't draw anything near what an equivalent coreless digital will under load (which in this case happens to be an HS-7955TG). Only half the airplane...

I've heard that sound more than once! We had JUST mowed all of the really tall and bushy weeds in that area of the field... Had it not been mowed it makes me wonder if the airplane would have been okay..

Nothing is amiss with the transmitter. The only thing amiss here is my new airplane :oblong:

Snagged about 10 minutes to hop into the basement and do some surgery on the wing tonight. I hate the feeling of having to cut into new covering, but it had to be done. Once I sliced away and peeled back the covering along the entire bottom of the wing, I discovered surprisingly minimal damage...

Doubt it was a brown out. Packs were still at 8.2 volts each, put a whole 200mah back in each pack the night before because of how efficient the brushless servos are. Went down into the shop and cut the bottom of the right wing panel open to see what the damages were. The 4 outside ribs had a...

I can't say what the cause was, like I said most of the plugs (power including) were disconnected from the receivers. I have no idea if that was from the crash, or it happened in flight (did I mention this thing spins like a top in a pop top?? Maybe that unplugged the receiver..). You can do 2...

Yeah it sucks but it's one of those things where this is the risk we take in the hobby. No airplane lasts forever, sometimes the longest you get out of an airplane is the first flight.

It was an impressive airplane, it had zero coupling on knife edge up until a fully stalled high alpha, zero wing rock upright or inverted, required very little rudder input to maintain inverted harrier, had a ballistic roll rate, was a MONSTER on power with the DA70... Hard to resist such an...

All I know is I had no control over the airplane. The receivers and a lot of the servo plugs were separated in the crash (including power plugs), and a post range-check revealed everything operating as normal. I'll be buying another airplane, there's no way I'm going to not have one of...
