    Scale Sig 1/3 Scale Spacewalker

2 sections of the first fuselage half framed up today.

    Scale Sig 1/3 Scale Spacewalker

Took a good bit of time to make sure the wing joiners were aligned properly. I secured the wings so they were upright which allowed me to measure and get them centered on the spars and ply mounting blocks. They were all dry fitted and all the bolts drilled and secured before using System Three...

Center sections joined. Using System Three T-88 epoxy.

Tony, although the plans and instructions don't call for the center section to be sheeted and glassed I know some builders have chosen to do so. I will decide after I follow the instructions and then evaluate how strong this sections appears to be.

At the point where it's time to connect the 2 center wing sections using the plywood doublers. The doublers also serve to set the dihedral.

Thanks for the offer Tony. Please post a photo of the plans for the gear. brazing isn’t my strongest skill but I am willing to give it a try.

I snoozed and lost the gear for $170.00. Hoping another will pop up at some point. About 90% done with the wings and then on the fuselage sometime next week.

This is a post I found on RC Scale Builder.com The 1/4 scale Cub gear fits nicely with a little modification to the mounting blocks. Looks much more scale than the supplied wire gear IMHO. Jrg Basic Member Joined: 29/October/2013 United States Posts: 149 IP Logged Posted: 24/January/2021...

    Scale Sig 1/3 Scale Spacewalker

Sawed thru the main spars to separate the outer and inner wing panels. Starting on the right wing tomorrow. Also found the Robart 1/4 scale Cub gear on RCG. I know the price is reasonable but not sure I want to spring for $185.00.

Looks like the NGH 38 will be a good fit size wise. Finished the left wing with the exception of the fiberglass wingtip.

Thanks for the suggestion. I stopped using CA because of the fumes. I have a respirator that I use whenever I need CA like on cap strips for example. I will certainly give the SuperPhatic a try.

Some progress on the left wing today. I decided to use Titebond for the majority of this build so things are moving much slower than with CA.

Does anyone have a set of the Robart #690 1/4 scale landing gear or know of someone who does ? A shame they ceased production. I have heard of someone else perhaps picking up the product line but so far nothing definite.

Thanks for the comments. Just like to say although I have not posted in quite awhile, I posted on the JTEC Taylorcraft under the ”myfivezees” moniker. I haven’t done any building due to spinal fusion surgery in March of 2022. Just now feeling close to normal and able to return to the activities...

    Scale Sig 1/3 Scale Spacewalker

Hi Tony. I chatted with several NGH38cc owners as well as one who used the engine on the Spacewalker so I am confident it will allow me to fly it in a scalelike manner. Not an aerobat to be sure but I have several of those now and wanted something slow and relaxing. From the Sig Website...

    Scale Sig 1/3 Scale Spacewalker

At age 72 I think I am good for at least one more build. I have built a 35% Hostetler Pitts S-1-11B, Hostetler 33% RV-4 as well as a JTEC 1/3 Scale Taylorcraft. This time around I wanted to build something along "old school" lines. While not technically an old school design it does have that...
