The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Last night I got to work on setting up my Edge for pull-pull on the rudder. That meant loping off the additional control horn I installed and carving out the slot for the new horn (the original horn was glued 95% the way through the rudder). Took 30 seconds to cut the horn I added off with a...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Already committed to going pull-pull, the airplane really needs more weight up front anyways :way_to_go:

I already tried that, that's how it was originally setup. The entire linkage geometry was perfect, so long as I didn't use any down elevator at all, because it would hit the linkage.

It has 2 servo boxes, but both are in the exact same location, one per side of the fuselage. Look at the stabs too, yours are sitting a lot higher than mine.

Something is definitely different than mine! I added the lower horn to try and correct the terrible geometry as best as I could but it looks like the entire setup was doomed from the start. From what I gather, it looks like your elevator is set in the fuselage a lot higher than mine is which...

If you've ever worked on a Chevy with a 4.3 V6 then you'll know exactly how it is to work on this engine because they are the same aside from some minor differences.

I have a dual SWB tray in my Yak and it's dead solid as far as centering goes. I think some of it comes from the servos needing to be sync'd to each other, as well as how tight the pulley setup is.

Woohoo this stupid thing lives again! Mental note: don't read the instructions included with your new parts, because they tell you the wrong firing order :oblong: If there was ever a reason as to why men don't read the directions, this is it :D:rolleyes:

The way the rudder servo pocket was designed into the tail did not account for the position of the elevator relative to the position of the rudder horn. So when I gave it down elevator, the elevator hit the rudder linkage. I had to change the whole linkage setup to get it to work properly but...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Woohooo it flies!!!! BUT there is 2 gleaming issues present: 1. The CG is too far back. I am planning on alleviating that with step 2: 2. The rudder does not have linear control throw, it moves way quicker to the left than it does to the right. I fear the only recourse for this is to set the...

OK last night of working on this monster, I need me some airplane time! :yesss: New fuel pump and alternator went in last night, as well as ignition coil. So now I'm up to spark plugs, plug wires, dizzy cap, rotor, coil, fuel pump, alternator, and now we're just waiting on the rest of the...

The good news is the timing chain and gears are hardly worn at all, still tight as new. The bad news is the timing cover has nearly rusted through, and I managed to break the front pulley yesterday (don't ask :oblong: ). At least that's all getting replaced. And I even managed to put new plug...

That will be part of the inspection once it's off. The boat has 285 hours total run time on it with the block being rebuilt at about the 150 hour mark. It's pretty evident the PO did nothing to keep things clean and flushed out. I flush the engine after every weekend of being in the river...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

No airplanes for me the past 2 nights, and seemingly it'll be a reoccurring theme the rest of this week and next week :oblong: Discovered that my dads boat had a good sized water leak last weekend so it was time to replace the water pump. Well once I dug in I discovered a whole slew of things...
