Yes. The foam for the fuse at least does tend to build a bit heavier from what I have seen of others doing it as well. Not a lot but it is there.

A 35cc would pull this plane fine but I actually have a dle55 on the nose. Weighs 13.5lbs with the 55. I need to make a couple changes to the plane but it performs great. There are videos in this thread here. Also it's not much of a build thread but it shows the basics...

I did this one that way. Thought about it on this but I decided against it. The way I fly on 20cc and smaller I fly them hard and dork them a lot. A built up fuse with a tube is easy to repair after a dork where as the foam fuse will not be. Pretty much a guarantee that anything 30cc and larger...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Rebuilt a couple slimers. One is a thunger tiger pro46 and the other is a OS46fx. First pic is from the TT after removing the rear bearing. Bearing actually had rust flakes peaking off of it. Surprising thing is is that the engine still ran great. Was making good power and held a tune perfect...

Used my dremel tool to rout a groove in the elevator right where the two halves meet. Then epoxied in a 1/8" carbon rod.

In this size most deff put them too and bottom. 40 size and smaller you can get away with just one side but it's worth it to me to still do it on both sides.

Looks good. Don't forget tristock on the top and bottom of the stab to the fuse. It needs the extra support.

Lighter than I expected though after looking at it. Fuse weighs 11.242oz. For comparison an EE60 fuse in the same state is 20oz

Yeah they go fast for me at least. See a few things that need to be changed on the plans and on the plane. Not enough clearance for the elevator.

Yes they need to be there. Needs to be something for the tube to glue to. Lots of bros actually run that piece of balsa through the router to profile it and have it hug tight to the tube. I thought about doing it but didn't feel like clearing my router table to do it.

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

I might be able to give some advice in that area. :)

Ju Added some lightening holes to the fuse and it's ready for sanding. Also built the rudder.

Up to 7-1/2 a dle20 still has good power. Mine was originally on a 8-1/2lb slab and pulled it quite well but other that flew think I got lucky and that my 20 is a little stronger than others.

Fuse is coming together. Still gotta cut the rest of the hardwood rails for the servos. It's only a 1/2" fuse but seeing it all together it seems really beefy so I may need to see where I can trim some weight. Really need it to hit the target of 7lbs or less.

Short kit is complete. @Alky6 this is the difference in those two blades as I picked up some more of the good ones today. Both are cut across the grain. The left is the lesser tooth count blade and me moving slow making the cuts. The right is the better blade and I moved pretty quick cutting...

Motor mount pieces cut and glued up. Figured this was the first piece I needed for the fuse so I should do it first before cutting any other pieces. Decided to use epoxy over wood glue and I wish I hadn't. So much more of a pain to work with and a good quality wood glue in my opinion is plenty...

This is the pack I normally buy when I go to lowes. I like the thinest of them which it's specs are saying is a 28 TPI. Currently I'm using the middle ones which are listed as 12 TPI. Basically though the thin ones have a really good cut but you can't use a lot of pressure or they will break as...
