Wish I could but can't! Look for it at Joe Nall.

GOOD BYE Now that the Harvard is done, I'll stop posting on this site. It was mentioned that I don't post to comments, I made a bad remark and I post on other sites. I went back and I cannot find any post that I said bad things about Giant Scale. How about posting my offending comments. I...

It's FINISHED! I have done the CG check and I am 3/8 of an inch back from the recommended proper CG. I plan on having a brass front spinner made so that I can get the CG moved forward.

TOMORROW THE DAY OF RECONING With the reluctance of my wife I took over the living room so that tomorrow I can do the balance check on the plane. Outer wings go on tomorrow. I will be using three weigh scales to determine it's current CG and then do what is necessary to have it balance correctly.

[QUOTE="dhal22, post: 96842, member: 707"]As a plumber 30+ years into his career I can appreciate a good solder job when I see one. You could solder the copper 2 hole strap to the pipe now that you know where it all goes. To remove my copper pipes I need to rotate them back and forth to rock...

EXHAUST DEFLECTORS I made the exhaust deflectors from 3/4 inch copper pipe fittings. Each one is made from three seperarate 45 degree Male to Female Elbows. The first one slides tightly over the Moki Exit Ring pipe by about an inch. The nice thing about using these type of fitting is that it...

Joe Nall Week 2016, May 7-14

About 2 1/2 hours before all the lines are thru the main staging area. But it's a steady dribble of vehicles till about midnight as people continuing roll on in. I'll be in line Wednesday morning so as to get our great camping spot looking over the big pond. It's just below where the Chief...

FUSELAGE CRADDLE This plane is just too big for me to easily move from my house to the trailer and then onto the flying field. At the field it will take the assistance of an extra two sets of hands to flip it from it's backside to upright with the wings assembled to it. To make moving somewhat...

ENGINE INSTALLATION Bolting this heavy engine onto the fuselage is quite difficult with only having two hands especially when you are trying to attach the electrical leads and the fuel lines. To help me out, I use two long 1/4-20 threaded rods that go into the blind nuts in the front of the...

MOTOR MOUNT The engine is mounted on a removable firewall. 5 bolts hold the firewall to the fuselage body that has a 1/2 inch plywood ring inside the very front to where the firewall is secured. All the controls for the engine are mounted on the backside of the firewall. The Throttle Servo...

Not everyone visits this site, and I would like to get valuable information from all out there that can help me. I certainly learned a lot about my Beautifying the Beast from GiantScaleNews comments. Would you prefer that I DON"T post here?

OUTER WING The outer wings are about 48" long by 26 inches wide at the root. Both wings are very similar but on the opposite wing, on the underside, the numbers face in the opposite direction. Attached is picture of my chief helper!

CENTER WING This section is 35 inches wide by 26 inches deep. The wheels are "Electric Driven" so there is no worry about air leaks etc. The landing gear (made in Germany for this kit) was modified to electric by Down and Locked. It has a full center span Landing Brake/Flap that I have mixed...

COCKPIT DETAILS Here are some pictures of the cockpit, pilot and front and rear instrument panels. Painting the cross bars on the clear canopy was extremely time consuming. To mask it out I used "FASMASK" a liquid masking tape. I took 3 coats to completely seal the clear plastic before it was...

SIDE EXHAUST SYSTEM The Harvard had a side exhaust system that allowed a separate pipe to carry heat into the cockpit to keep the pilot(s) warm in the Canadian winter. I made mine from electrical PVC pipe that I "manipulated" with some heat and force to get the right curve. I also used...

ELECTRICAL WIRING Today I got back into finishing the wiring for this plane. I had forgotten what I had done a year ago causing me to go back and retrace some of the leads. I always colour code the leads from each servo or item with a small plastic wire tie. This helps me make sure I get the...

BRITISH NAVY HARVARD I've been 3 winters working on this plane (it was started with Brad on RCCANADA). I got it almost completed (80%) last winter but my wife's eye surgery (that went bad) and subsequent 17 trips to the surgeons put a damper on finishing it for last years' Joe Nall. Thank...

BALANCE CHECK The airplane is now ready to fly with Manne out in Arnprior on Thursday February 11. The CG is 1/16" of an inch forward of the location that Pilot recommends for this plane. It should be an easy Re-maiden at this location. I was lucky to not have to add any lead and only had to...
