    Discussion Engines and landing gear

That is a great question. I initially thought I could find something but haven't gotten that far into the thought process. One of the reasons I posted here. My flying experience never took me into the larger plane arena until I got back into it recently. I have a 1/5th scale cub I need to...

    Discussion Engines and landing gear

The Wingspan is around 75 inches, fuselage is 65. I expect with added flaps, gear, etc it will be maybe in the 12 to 15 pound range. Hard to say at this point. I still need to strip the fuselage. Here are some pics.

    Discussion Engines and landing gear

I have an old P51 that I "inherited". It's been in more than one local flyers shop for close to 30 years waiting to be restored. No one knows the manufacturer, its a 1/6 scale, balsa and sheeting, fixed gear, no flaps. I am going to try and rework it, nose to tail, install flaps and retracts...

    Help! Mystery plane

I figure I will pick up a kit and put it in. Appreciate the info. I looked at your pic and noticed that I didn't answer your question about the covering. The wings have some kind of covering/paint directly on the foam. The fuselage is balsa sheeted foam.

Thanks. You are the 2nd person to tell me to replace the diaphragm so I guess I am going to replace the diaphragm. Much Appreciated.

    Help! Mystery plane

I thought so at first and did some research on Sarpolus. He may have given the original owner some ideas but the mid wing mounting doesn't seem to match up with any of his similar stuff. As soon as I figure out how to stop the fuel syphon to the carb it's ready to fly. No where else to move the...

    Help! Mystery plane

Yeah it's an older Quadra. I pulled the engine to check it over and test run it. It has one piston ring which I am to understand makes it a 35. It does have points. Some time later I will probably switch it to electronic ignition if it survives the test flight. LOL. Thanks for your input it was...

    Help! Mystery plane

Thanks for the input. You are the only one to express their opinion and it is appreciated. Since I posted this I have learned that the engine was either a repurposed from a Trolling motor, post hole digger, or some other powered device. Or the guy mounted the pull rope starter from one of them...

    Help! Mystery plane

Someone asked me to get an airplane they had inherited years ago. Suspected plane is at least 30 or 40 years old but surprisingly solid. It has an approx 68 inch sheeted foam fuselage, 80" all foam wing, Wing chord is close to 18" and really thick. We did figure out that the engine is probably a...
