Someone asked me to get an airplane they had inherited years ago. Suspected plane is at least 30 or 40 years old but surprisingly solid. It has an approx 68 inch sheeted foam fuselage, 80" all foam wing, Wing chord is close to 18" and really thick. We did figure out that the engine is probably a Quadra 35 or 42 and has the optional pull rope starter. The original owner got into building foam planes so I doubt this was a kit but i could be wrong. I do believe it may have been from plans from AMA or other organization. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input. You are the only one to express their opinion and it is appreciated. Since I posted this I have learned that the engine was either a repurposed from a Trolling motor, post hole digger, or some other powered device. Or the guy mounted the pull rope starter from one of them. I have removed the pull rope. I think if I get this thing flying it will be a kick in the butt.
Yeah it's an older Quadra. I pulled the engine to check it over and test run it. It has one piston ring which I am to understand makes it a 35. It does have points. Some time later I will probably switch it to electronic ignition if it survives the test flight. LOL. Thanks for your input it was much appreciated.

I thought so at first and did some research on Sarpolus. He may have given the original owner some ideas but the mid wing mounting doesn't seem to match up with any of his similar stuff. As soon as I figure out how to stop the fuel syphon to the carb it's ready to fly. No where else to move the fuel tank so I am going to try a uniflow set up with a big loop and see if that fixes it.

You should not have any issues with the Quadra syphoning fuel no matter where the tank is. I only use a 2 line system on all my gas engines for the fuel tank. This places a "T" in between the clunk line and the carburetor which I use the 3rd line for fueling/defueling the plane. A Walbro style should not let fuel syphon to it nor let air enter which is why the system works.
I am betting that your Walbro carb has been siting for some time and the diaphragm is dried out. I would give B & B Specialties a call and they can set you up with a card kit. (I think they go for under $10)
