    Mystery Target Drone engines?

Some of the USRA giant scale racers are using the Herbranson 289 for their birds. Ralph Cunningham is a notorious engine guru.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Got another ProModeler order. Servos for my 34% Yak 55M. 6 360oz servos, 1 630 and 1 270 oz for throttle. Also got all my servo horns for these servos and wire keeps. So, maybe a few weeks, I'll have it all together. Been busy doing household projects. Have momma and Nate here again...

Discussion Connectors; ESC to Battery. What Are You Using And Why?

If the Deans starts to feel loose, 99% of the time, its the male plug. Replace it. :) All my EC5s and 2s have always been genuine, as are my Deans.

Discussion Connectors; ESC to Battery. What Are You Using And Why?

All my Rx batteries are Deans Ultra. Thats what I have, thats what I use. I have EC2s on a Blade 180 heli. Good mini plug! I have used the EC5s on larger 700 helis, and in my 90mm EDF. They are fine for that. I also have a set of PRC6s on a 12S 5K pack for another 700 size heli I have...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Mine looks better in pics than in person. But, yes, I agree. The Ody is a sexy machine. It is a great entry to mid level turbine jet. Mine juat has a 120 in it, which is only 26# thrust. I am debating on a Swiwin 140 at 30# or a KT 140. Either way I go, I have to change all turbine related...

Modeling! After nearly a full year of not having a canopy for my Odyssey, I opted to build one of out wood, foam and glass. A little silver spray makes it look like its going 200 on the ground. Then another year goes by, without any sort of communication from Gator RC. Each time I called, it...

    I need help timing a 3w-546

Whats up with the 4 magnets is easy. 2 of those magnets both a red/green pair, are for each cylinder set. The green magnet for those of use who continue to use the 3W IIS ignitions (new from 2006 to today) can hook up a tach that 3W sells. It picks up the signal right off the hub. There is...

Capital City Jets event, July 21/22.

And here is my new bird. Picking it up Sat, this week from Chad Wilson of TDRC fame! :) It is a Too RC Models Odyssey with a KingTech 120 shoving it fwd, all Xpert servos, 140oz of fuel onboard, JR DMSS 11ch PS Rx and my XG11 guiding it. Gonna be a blast, literally!

They say, if you build it, they will come......... We are building it, so y'all come on out!! If anyone remember way back when, the Heart of Ohio Jet Scramble?? We are bringing it back, same killer location, with a different event name and hopefully some familiar faces along the way. Capital...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I dont see how an ignition swap gives extra RPM. An engine with any given prop, can only spin so fast. Advancing the timing of the pick up will create a little extra power, yes. But has been known in the state of California to cause cancer. :) I'm not going after each and every last RPM...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Some say that the DA ignition is better than the 3W. I'm going to say this...... Greater care must be taken and excercised when mounting any 3W ignition. If you mount the ingitions with the mounting plate down, you MUST have a minimum of 1/8" for airflow. That is basically where the spark is...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

The DA is an alternative to the 3W ignition. The blue dot on the 3W ignitions just means that it is capable of 6V. When i had my blue dots, I always ran 5 cell NIMHs. So, an A123 or LiFe pack will be fine on it. The pick up is the black piece on the front of the engine, about top center on...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

In all honesty, if you have the coil pick up, buy a DA single ignition. I did for one of my older 100s, and it ran just fine. Just need to swap the plug on the pick up to a standard JR style plug, as the older 3W coils have an older Futaba G style plug they use.

Engine fit is perfect, not small by any stretch. Engine fits the cowl, without cutting the cowl for plug caps. 60-80cc is usually what they call for. I got tired of searching for a GT80, with an EI conversion, so I opted for the EME 70. If I need more nose weight, I will buy the electric...

Airplane therapy was yesterday. Spent close to 8 hrs working on my FW 190. I got the EME 70 mounted, throttle servo in, cowl mounted, fuel system done, radio gear install (sans elevator extensions) and fit the wing. Using the XG11 and power safe 11ch Rx. Going to use a soft switch, instead...
