2017 Ice House Fly In, Rockdale, TX

Apache Pass RC club is hosting its 5th annual Ice House Fly In September 28 to October 1, 2017. This event is held on the historic Apache Pass grounds in Central Texas and has drawn over 200 plus pilots and even more spectators. The event has 4 main flight lines for every style imaginable under the sky, we do not discriminate. We fly day and night and go non-stop.


The vision of Fly Apache Pass is to make it flying destination. The site has full scale fly ins, many RC events and even model rocketry. It’s our groups goal to make the Ice House Fly in a week-long plus event in the future. The site carters to be family orientated with family activities, camping, fishing hiking in addition to the flying and highly encourage the family coming out. There’s also an onsite Ice House and Steak House if so desired.

• Light Towers Friday-Saturday (One Flight Line will be dark for "Light Kit Planes").
• Plenty of room for multi-rotor fun

• Full RV Hook-ups (Water, Sewage, Electric, Wifi) $10.00 per night.
• Hot Showers available (Men and Women)
• Awesome food and beverage at the Apache Pass Restaurant/ICE HOUSE on-site.

Nestled along side the El Camino Real De Los Tejas , which is a National Historic Trail, and the three 17th century Spanish Mission sites is the Apache pass air park in Downtown TX

On site we have a 3000 ft grass runway, full hookups (water/sewer/electric/wifi) for 47 RVs with an additional 24 if needed, showers and restrooms and the Apache Pass Icehouse. They serve ice cold beer and good food. It is a great dining experience right at the field.

This property is huge and a golf cart is recommended.

As you all may have heard Laines Planes will be on site to hang out, sell and fly with us.They carry unquie and fun laser cut kits as well as Epp Cuda versions. Give Laine Stahr a call to ensure he will have one there for you. Night time Cuda Racing under the lights????? Watch the Apache Pass FB for a build thread on the 35" Cuda (100 mph Oh Ya).

If you were there last year Seth Arnold put on a stellar show with the Mamba brought to you by Randy's Hobby. Then there was the Seth Arnold Johnathan Jennings and Brian Strachan aerial ballet. FYI The RV Park is near full capacity last time I checked with all the local construction in the surrounding area. We should have plenty of sites available with water and electricity but no sewer if you choose. Please see the policy below.

***Attention RV campers*** Please read this new policy concerning special RV park pricing for RC events at Apache Pass:

- Special $10 per night pricing during our events will still be available...however, this will now be on a "FIRST COME FIRST SERVED" basis ONLY and you must be on-site to get this pricing. No reservations will be accepted at this rate.

- Reservations can still be made for the RV park, but they will be at the full rate (typically ~ $30 per night) and must be ...paid in advance.

- Camping "on the hill" is still the same...just $10 for a quick stop in the RV park for water fill/tank dump that should get you though the weekend. No reservations required/available for this.

For our Foamy Demolition Derby (Crak Yak Combat) Friday Night, Twisted Hobbies has donated a small prize. All who participate in the demolition derby are eliligible. 3 rounds of awesomeness starting at 9:30, 9:45 10:00. Of course all times tentative. No lights needed as we will be under the light tower. No skill level required fly around and do you best to hit a plane. Breaks between rounds for beverages and repairs. Its harder than you think. We will be filming it this yea...r.
