For those interested I'm going to share my setup and edit this as I go. I'd like to see what everyone else is using to get an idea of what else is out there.

Printer: Creality CR-10S 3D Printer

PLA being used at the moment is 1.75mm Kcamel 400m kindof liking 208 degrees at the moment.

Had a nozzle temp fluctuation of 1-6 degrees that I fixed to roughly 1 degree by replacing a capacitor on the CB.

The glass that came with my printer is actually warped. there is a slight hill/valley in the center. Need to get some new glass that's flush. I tried a mirror from Home Depot, but it was actually a little off too. So for now I am doing small prints with the glass in the hill configuration since it's easier to calibrate.

Bit of a repost, but my OCD when it comes to organization I decided to post it here too.

Had an old brittle throttle arm from an OS FT-120 Gemini that broke. This was my first real 3D printed RC part project. It did not take long, and about 10min to print with 100% infill and PLA. I was surprised to see how well it worked! I soaked an additional arm in 15% nitro fuel and after a few days it did nothing to it. PLA is biodegradable and will eventually breakdown but it’s going to take a very long time.

I drafted the part from scratch on design spark mechanical, saved it as an .STL format, opened the file in my slicer software (CURA), made it at 208degrees, 100% infill, and with supports.

Ive always wanted to draft and this is becoming a very fun way to learn and every now and then make something useful.

Made a dummy spinner roughly 32x45mm, it was hard for me to learn how to hollow out the center correctly, eventually figured it out. I then sanded it and painted it flat black. The plan with this project is to hang the plane on display in my buddies LHS since I can’t even seem to find some one to take it with $5 attached to it. Ha ha, so the engine that was in the last post is what was on it previously. So this is going to get glued to the prop onto a dowel attached to the firewall.

Took about 1.5hrs to print, 4mm wall, can’t remember the infill if any.

Found the site and will be following with interest. Looks like this is a toy that can be very useful in our hobby.

Do you think you could put a starter on that spinner or would you damage the plastic.

structurally it would be pretty robust, PLA will melt like every plastic, so what dennis said. Friction as we all well know causes heat, and PLA can melt around 170 degrees. Pretty sure we have all used a starter on a plastic spinner before, the key is positive force not allowing the starter cone to slip around the plastic cone. I'd imagine it would hold up great, it's actually a stiffer plastic than most plastic cones I have come across so probably better than most cast spinners on the market possibly. My mind has been drifting to make an electric spinner that would have those air inlets for motor cooling.... that would be a project.

Have a question can a cone that looks like the one in the picture be printed on to an aluminum plate.
