3DHobbyShop 51" AJ Slick

Just had a deadstick on my slick. I was flying off a public street in front of a fallow field. I had pulled a long upline, pushed over into weeble wobbles and finished into a knife edge spin. After a few rotations I lost power. The plane was still high. I told my buddy I had lost power and he tells me there is a truck coming. So I glided past the truck and put it down just behind it. I feel like my slick is on borrowed time now. I gotta figure out what went wrong now. The motor wasn't hot and turned freely so there is either a loose connection or my. Castle phoenix 60 has finally given up.

That esc looks like a great deal. I have an 80 amp I can throw in if this one is bad. I'm kind of hoping it is just a bad connection. The motor is connected to the esc via bullet connectors so one of those could have come loose and caused the problem.

My esc is fine. Chalk it up to inexperience soldering. When I made this connection it was one of the first things I had soldered in my life. I'm amazed it held up for some long. The wire isn't even tinned lol :facepalm:

At least it was on the motor side and not the battery side of the ESC....that would have been disastrous....

slick in the park

I haven't played over here in the 3DHS threads for a while but got some footage having fun with the 51" slick today I thought I'd share.

Still haven't got the rolling loops sorted yet, but by golly this little slick is fun to fly. She is certainly the one to keep me on my toes, but shes so beat up I cannot remember if she was such a handful in the early days or only since I smashed and repaired her a couple of times.

Nice flying! That was sped up right? I don't think my plane rolls anywhere near that fast, nor does it have anywhere near the power if that is flying in regular time. Just the speed in harrier and taxiing at the end kind of tip it off. Very cool.

Nope, that is real time video.

I'm running the Motrofly DM3615-750 motor and apc15x6 prop on 4s 2600 lipos.

She's a twitchy little beast these days. A lot more slow rolling on smaller prop like 14x7. My ailerons are 45deg both ways.

That is interesting. I'm on 14x7 with the same throws. My packs are old and I'm on a hacker so that accounts for a lot of the power difference. Actually the 15x6 accounts for a lot as well. I may have to re-think my setup
