71" AJ Slick on 8s ?

I'm converting my 71" AJ Slick over to elec. from the DLE 30cc that is in it now.
Planning on running it on 8s.
I am putting the Tacon 110 Bigfoot motor and Gecko 120A or YEP 120HV esc in it also.

My question is what would the recommended battery and prop size be for this setup?

I'm thinking 4000mah 4s x two and props between 19/8 and 20/8
Would those batteries be too heavy for a 71" airframe?

What are you all running on 8s setups?

Would like to get around 6 minutes or better flight time for regular to mild 3D flying.

So I got the Tacon motor in the 71" Slick ready to go. Just waiting on the weather now.
Before I put it in the plane I did some prop, and Esc testing. I mounted it on my bench engine tester and got out the watt meter.

I used both the ZTW Gecko 120A HV as well as the YEP 120 HV esc's. There seemed to be very little difference in the watts and amps used for each prop tested with each speed controller. I did have some screeching going on with the YEP when I advanced the throttle too fast but I think I can adjust that out with the YGE prog card. I just did a quick setup to get the esc working with the motor and probably haven't found the correct timing, start up speed, or other settings yet.
I had good luck with the ZTW despite what some have mentioned on other forums. I also have a ZTW esc on my 60" EF Laser that so far is working good with the Torque motor in it.

I then mounted the original DLE 30cc engine with the Pitts style muffler on the bench and did the same test with the same props. Minus the watt meter.

Here are the results I got.

The Turnigy batteries were brand new, these were the first cycles on them. I know, I know, not exactly how you should break in batteries. But I am very impatient and totally bored going nuts waiting for better flying weather.

The numbers all came from full throttle of course.

Tacon 110 Bigfoot motor specs.

Shaft Length 20 mm
KV (RPM/Volt) 295KV
Turns (for cars) Poles 9
Max Voltage 55
Wire Size 0.25
Bullet Connectors Yes
Bullet Connectors Size 4.0 mm

So based on what the specs of the motor are. Will I be pushing it by running the motor over 68 amps with 19 or 20 inch props if only for short bursts during typical 3D and lazy sport flying?

I also have 6s packs that I could run in either series or parallel but I haven't tried running the numbers on 6s or 12s with these props yet.
Maybe I'll give that a shot for shits and grins just to see what happens unless all you people with much more sense than I have don't think it would work too well.
Am I right in thinking that the kv of the motor really isn't optimal for 6 or 12s?

Anyway just thought I'd share what I came up with.

Wow you spent some serious time putting all this together, nice job!! I have had several of the Bigfoot series motors and have been very happy with them. I have always used the Hobbywing ESC's with them and they seem to be a good combination.
Thanks again for the information!!

And you are right, I think you would be much better off with at least 6s on that motor if not 12s. It would probably bring up the watts and bring down the amp draw.....
