2S1800 up to 2s2800 should be fine for a full day of flying.
Just make sure you check the amount used after each flight and then you can gauge your per flight usage pretty accurately.
Ok guys - I have decided to run a receiver pack on this larger electric bird - for those of you that run them, how do you wire it up? what size Rx pack (s) do you run and how many flights do you guys get? Do you guys run a bec (or voltage regulator)? I'm thinking of buying a new futaba 14sg radio with a HV Rx - and the plane already has 4 Hitec 7975hb (guessing 6.0v max) - not sure if these are big enough for the tail though....any suggestions would be great - thinking maybe a 1600mah life (good for 4 flights)
ok so based on the feedback from everyone - I think I'm going to get the following:
ZTW 12A UBEC
High Quality Red Label 2S1P 6.6V 2300mAh Receiver Pack
Does this sound like a reasonable setup - set the ZTW to 6.5v (6.0v if the servos can't handle it - but I'm guessing they probably can since Hitec usually leaves a little wiggle room)
Then I can just get rid of my CC BEC Pro that is inline with the ESC (or should I just use the CC BEC Pro inline with the reciever pack? and not buy the ZTW one which looks much lighter and smaller)
If I'm missing something let me know as this is the first time running a reciever pack for me and I just want to get it done right the first time....
If you use a LiFe pack, you do not need an Ubec. It will be fine straight into the receiver. All hitec servos I have used, 6.6volts is fine. I like to get rid of as many failure points as possible. So try out going straight into the receiver.
One thing to be cognizant of with life, is that the voltage drop when the pack gets low is dramatic.
You really want to slowly work up to finding out how much you can use before charging.
I recommend two flights, then charge and see how much you put back. Then ad another flight, repeat the process.
Good luck!
