78'' Extra

Aha yeah it's going together pretty quick. That last pic is just another one of it all mocked up right out of the box. I opened the box, pulled the plane out, and slid it all together.

I just finished the rudder and tail wheel last night and one wing panel this morning. I'll post up pics later.

So what are the biggest differences you've seen comparing it to the 60" Extra EXP?

Probably more similarities than differences. It's got the carbon stringers, well built structure, precut holes, awesome fit and finish. It's just more of what you expect from a EF airframe.
I have my eye on this plane... might have to be my next one in this size.

The best part is that it's a little bigger than everything else in it's class but still about the same price. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this plane!

If you can wait until spring the electric 78'' MXS should be coming out and it will be 87'' with the tips :veryshocked:

In addition to the 70" Slick, or will you pull the gear out and move it to the extra?

Most likely swapping over the gear from the slick. I don't know though... I don't have any cash at all for planes right now or in the near future.

I am interested to see how the EME 35 compares to other engines in that class. I couldn't find any videos of it flying on a plane to get a feel for the power. My PTE works really hard when it is running right, but I have had to spend a lot of time tweaking on it. I'd like an engine that was a little more reliable I think. I am guessing the PTE compares to the DLE 30 in the reliability department.

So i got the rudder control horn and hinges glued in with 30 minute epoxy the other day. I also ran the pull-pull cables through the fuse and i'm just waiting until next week to get servos for it. I'll be going with HS-7955s all the way around with 1.5'' arms on the ailerons and elevator and a 3.5'' offset arm on the rudder. I still need to decide on a throttle servo(any suggestions?)

Got both the wings hinged also. The plane is really coming together but i still have to get a bunch of little things like fuel filters, fuel tee, fuel tubing, and fuel dot(probably some other stuff i'm forgetting too)

But i do already have my RCEXL Opto kill and 3'' carbon spinner though
