I running the VVRC twin.. I never used a starter, like all my gassers I started it by hand. Yes, it requried more effort than my other motors but never had to have a starter to get it running

Anyone running the VVRC 40cc twin? What size starter are you using?

I have this wonderful Kavan starter that is the size of a standard glow starter, has a optional battery compartment that I modified to fit a 4S 4000 lipo, and it can start some 50cc motors! The EME-60 finally smoked it one day and has been rebuilt, but it is more than a match for the 40 twin.

For the EME, Patrick had to buy the Sullivan Megatron. That thing is a beast.

What type of battery do you use for the Megatron? do you use 12 or 24v? I was thinking about that starter but was not sure if I could find a portable battery for it.

It is compatible with 12 and 24 volt. I have a friend who runs his off a 3s lipo for small engines, and a 6s or 2Pb batteries for 50cc and up.

that would be great if I could use my lipos and get enough torque to start a 40cc. I have some puffy 6s 3300 that I could use for that.

We use a 5S 5300 I bought for a a Osiris I never used.

That little Kavan works real well though. Planetary gearing gives it that extra oomph over regular glow starters. I bought a second one for the trailer.

70cc twin V2
Smoked two 12v starters using 24v trying to start this little devil. Just ordered a Dynatron 24v one. Sure wish DA would have had their 35 out cause I would have never bought this 40cc twin. If I wanted to start engines with a starter I would have stayed with nitro engines. I sure hope it's worth spending $130 bucks for a starter that I won't ever use for nothing else.

+1 This is a dilemma that several of us (non glowbies) have with the vv40 and the OS engines. "Fuel flip fly" was the idea when I went gas. "Charge plug play" for electric.
It seems like a nice engine once you find the right prop, tune and routine to flip it. Some are having success. Good luck.
