I just received my AeroWorks 50CC EDGE 540 ARF QB early this week...and was thinking of doing a build thread. Well a few have seen my other post and ask for a build thread so here we go...

What I will be putting inside
Control Surface Servos: Hitec HS-5585MH with H9 1.5 inch metal arms. (Better than what AeroWorks recommends for this plane, and a HV servo)
Throttle Servo: Spectrum 6150 HV servo.
Motor: Have not decided...EME 60 or DLE61 will be ordering Feb 27th.
Smoke Pump : Sullivan Skywriter Smoke Pump
Receiver: Spectrum AR9110 9-Channel DSMX PowerSafe Receiver
Tanks: 1 16 oz Fortitude fuel tank and 1 16 oz Fortitude smoke tank
Batteries 2 Pulse LIPO 3600MAH 2S RX PACK 7.4V

Was pretty happy with the way the plane arrived...Fedex did not beat the boxes up. The plane was well packaged, beside the rudder and the elevators...they were kinda floating in the top portion of the Fuse box and aloud to slide around but no damage and all parts accounted for.

I am hoping to start working on the plane tonight, so stay turned for updates

Well I did not get a ton done with the plane last night...

I did get the fuselage and the rudder ultra cote stretched back out, they both had a ton of wrinkles. I hate having to re-shrinking the covering, one slip and you have a hole...but I made it through it with no holes.



I did get the rudder servo installed. There is a ton of room in the fuse for receiver, batteries, fuel tanks, and all other stuff.



Last thing I had time for last night was I installed the control horns on the Rudder and test fit the rudder to the horizontal stab checking for proper gaping and movement. I do really like the Horns that AeroWorks provides cause there is no epoxy involved



Hopefully more to come tonight.

Must admit, I do like the ample room inside the fuse. I noticed the bottom aft fuse structure. behind the turtle deck forward former. It is lazer cut lite ply. This is cool. Typically most arf makers just use stringers. Is the rest of the fuse similar to this? Think it adds any extra weight?

The whole fuse is like that....might add some weight, but I will take the weight for the strength...this plane was designed around the DA50, and I am going to put a 60 on it, so I think it is still going to pull vertical forever.

I like the strength plan. Like them light, but I also would take a tick more strength over an ounce or two total. The 60 will yank it around like my pup yanks his stuffed animals around. LOL

If it's like my Aeroworks Extra 300 some of the ply in the bottom of the fuse is to make a tuned pipe exit easier. On the Extra there are two hatches on the bottom. One for a can and one for a pipe.

There does seem to be more room inside this one then there is in my Pilot Edge. I'm also interested to see what your final weight comes out to be.

Aeroworks airplanes tend to be, but they are very robust.
