Aztech Aero EG aircraft 120cc Slick Build log

Today starts control horn installation..
The old way that worked fine with all EG stuff was two phenolic horns..
Thie newest EG planes get 3k carbon fiber horns and carbon fiber plate's to go over the horn location hard point and the horns....Improvments at every turn with this kit.:veryshocked:

I used a razor blade t cut the covering away and hit the horns where they glue in the hard points with sand paper.. I always use 30 minute epoxy and a hint of milled fiberglass

In the last pic notice upon my findings of the rudder horn installation if you look close there are 3 slots cut..
USE the TOP (2) for push pull tail mounted rudder servo's
USE the BOTTOM (2) for PULL PULL.. great idea.
there are covered cutouts for push pull installation.
will opt for pull-pull with our carbon fiber rudder tray

rudder horn glued and mounted.. the included M3 bolts are top shelf as well as the black anodized nylocks
The ball links are of better quality than the older EG supplied links.. the are made of a better quality plastic and have flaged ball ends for great linkage geometry

Thanks Snow Dog!
I have had some EG airplanes in my history but this one blows the roof off the rest.. Top quality for sure:)

Got the TDRC carbon rudder tray fitted.. It fit's in with out mods.. Servo goes through the servo cutout in the plane and just bolt the tray itself down.. makes your rudder so much more linear and takes the strain off the spline

Guys. Sorry for any delay. Got some more work done.
Now to the wings (I do those last for some reason)
As azhar mentioned there are 3 slots you can cut out for your CF control horns. (use 2 to the left for 1.25" or smaller servo arm's and 2 to the right for 1.5" and longer servo arms). Genius design allowing perfect geometry!
I opted for the farthest 2 out.. Again the CF horns are awesome and I used a sanding block and hit all parts that adhere to my 30 minute epoxy..

Note that there is a string for the farthest outboard alieron servo extension that is glued to a piece of balsa to pull the aileron servo extension through the ribs. The other side of the string is taped to the root rib. (NICE TOUCH! makes pulling the leads much easier),
I am using 7955's on the ailerons
Also included are the really tight fitting safety clips like the ones we sell.chads phne #2 061.jpgchads phne #2 062.jpgchads phne #2 063.jpgchads phne #2 064.jpgchads phne #2 065.jpgchads phne #2 066.jpgchads phne #2 067.jpgchads phne #2 068.jpgchads phne #2 069.jpg

Went to mount the landing gear cuffs...
I know azhar says that canopy glue didn't hold them so I got some black RTV silicon.. Make sure you tape the cuff's in place until it dries:thumbup:

Ok guy's..
Slowly but surely I started on the egine box and cowl to ready for the engine..
The kit comes with mounting screws. the M3 cowl mount bolts are great quality.. I opted to use some button head servo screws to mount the engine box access panel then i added some TDRC bling cone washers to the cowl.. love the bling
I used masking tape to mark my holes as you can see in the photo's.. Make sure to mount the (2) top cowl screws that go in the former from the outside.. After I mark the tape then transfer to the cowl and drill..20130320_133052.jpg20130320_132649.jpg20130320_133448.jpg20130320_134715.jpg20130320_133811.jpg
