So who is flying with the Cortex in their planes?

I've got one in my 3dhs 72" Extra

And also in my Redwing 89" Extra

I had one in my 104" Extra hoping to use it as a training tool. Worked awesome but it did not help teach me how to fly. I struggle with rolling harriers and torque rolls. In 3d mode it would hold a perfect torque roll with me just giving left aileron. So I could do the maneuver but I wasn't LEARNING how to do it. I felt like it was going to make me rely on it so I sold it!!! The one thing I did like was it totally eliminated any wing rock in high alpha. Gave me the confidence to bring it down on the deck in a harrier.

Hmmm... I'd like not to suck anymore..

Perhaps I will add 3 of these to my next plane.

That's my only hope.

Depending on how you use it, a cortex can definitely help you learn to fly better. While it won't do maneuvers for you, it will help keep the plane stable.

The trick to using it to learn, is that once you have something down, like a hover, slowly dial the gains down until the cortex isn't doing much anymore... Then move onto learning your next maneuver.

That's my goal eventually... Right now it just enables me to have more fun since I fly lower and more aggressively when I use it.

i have one in my EF extra 300 78" with da 35 and it works great.

i did have this 1st on my EF extra 91", and it did not work. apparently the DA 60 vibrations were at a certain frequency that made the gyro not work well. others have tried with a da 60 by making a special mount for the cortex, and they claimed it worked. too much work for me for a gyro. now i hear this issue has been resolved in the cortex itself, but i have no experience now with the new cortex.

Sunday morning at Nall, everyone is wrapping up, it was windy as hell.

Danny was flying his 3DHS Bigfoot, just flying around doing touch and go's.

Guy walks up and says "Hey, that thing is really stable, does it have a gyro or something?"

Danny says "Yes, its a Demon Cortex"

Guy says "Well.....thats just cheating, thats not really flying"

Danny asks...."Why aren't you flying?"

The guy says "well its too windy"
