Welcome to GSN John. And then there is those of us whom the women spend on. Just last week the wife gave me 5K to go towards my next build. Ah "It's a wonderful life my friend". Oh, I almost forgot, she don't like flowers or jewelry. Lucky man I am....
My advice on your plane is to follow those whom do similar or have similar such a snoopy1.

Ahh, real pattern planes are wheels up and on the pipe. And no tail wheel.

You are harsh, just kidding, but I have say the plane is a true pattern plane but maybe not the wheels. But it does have 42 cc gas engine in the front and no matter how hard I tried but I could not fit a pipe in it that small narrow fuselage. Are the new pattern planes not all taildraggers.

The big guppy looking modern pattern planes are tail draggers.

One thing I forgot to make you aware of I ran into some difficult when we installed a 55 cc on a 30cc for a friend. Well the propeller diameter was a real problem. Even with a 3 bladed propeller we only had 1 1/2 inch clearance. So we had to make new gear and add 3 inches to the gear height it looked a little odd but did the job. The looked like a Corsair.
