Byron's Origional Airshow Memories!

All the airplanes flown during Striking Back were Byron's as far as I know. There were a few crashes, but most of the time the Zeros would start smoking and disappear over the bluff like they went in.

Here are some Jet pictures, probably from 89.

Here are some Bob Violett Sport Sharks. The difference in performance between these and the normal ducted fan of the day was amazing!

WOW!
These discussions really take a builder/pilot back.
I think it’s important to reflect, to reminisce, to stop and smile at how far our model aviation - our miniature aircraft hobby has matured over the years.
It’s a little disturbing though that apparently the “voice” of our endeavors, the AMA,
apparently, is not reaching out - promoting whether by print or electronic means.
Saw some recent videos of giant scale building, flying in Britain and Germany. But not much here in USA.
Pity!
Folks like Byron gave all of us a heritage, fine showmanship and goals to strive to meet.
Congrats to all who’ve
built and published: to those industries who’ve provided all of us with working miniaturization
of aircraft apparatus.
Thanks for the memories.

Byron was surely on the cutting edge for the time.

Wanna talk memories, my first model was a 60's Monogram Piper Cub with a Drone engine. I still have the engine but unfortunately the airframe, after numerous years, succumb to the oil saturation and literally fell apart.
