I was so looking forward to splitting the cowl on this one also. Funny how one little mishap can reduce your project to work on.....LOL.
 
Everyone... meet "Chuckie", my TOC-Xtreme 42% Extra 260. It's named after Chuck Norris because, like Chuck Norris, it can't die. Have the proof here.

Crash #1: Splash Landing at Joe Nall 2009. It was entirely my fault. I went in on a torque roll and couldn't get the power back in time before the stabs hit the water. We let it dry out for a day and, after 3 emergency landings for 3 separate reasons, (Dead stick, throttle servo (fried), and rudder lockup from the servo locking up (servo was spared and I still use it)) it lived to fly again.


As a matter of fact, here's the "redemption splash" filmed 2 days later.


Crash #2: Dead stick at Huckfest Atlanta 2009. Still don't exactly know why it quit. I think it was because I didn't let it warm up enough. Again, my fault. It crashed on the Thursday of the Huckfest and by Saturday morning, with the repairing skills of @shotgun,@BIG A amongst others who lent a hand, it flew again.


Crash #3: Dead stick at Chattanooga 3D Jam 2012. Contradicting the crash at Huckfest Atlanta, I think the motor got TOO hot. The 2012 Chattanooga Jam was a scorcher and I didn't think about how long I was in a hover. Just caught up in having fun with @Cap232driver , who was flying the Edge on my wing. It was fixed with much greater care and a much more thorough approach this time and it shed some weight, too.


I don't have any videos of the last 2 incidents, but at Joe Nall last year (2014), the motor box split on the first flight for Nall. Brought it home and repaired it with thicker 90 degree aluminum braces and called it good.... only for the the thing to quit at my home field while it was in a low roller, busting up the fuse and the right wingtip and stab tip. We never determined the cause, but we did some electrical work to it (i.e. replacing the fiber wire in the fiber optic killswitch) and apparently, whatever we fixed or replaced, fixed the problem. We got it rebuilt in time to be flown at Huck-O-Ween 2014. The picture attached is from Huck-O-Ween 2014. I flew the snot out of it and it came home in one piece. Here's to hoping 2015 is better to Chuckie than 2014 was.

Sorry Rex that was a gorgeous Yak. As far as the best "piece" maker??? It's up there!!! But remember "Asian Guy's" "Beast Heaping" Over on FG??? LoL

I eventually bought that plane from him. It was my first large scale. 88inch span. It eventually met it's demise due to my stupidity. Mounted a gopro to the same spot and did a quick takeoff into a nasty wind. Too tailheavy and not enough experience to fly a tailheavy cub. Wanna see that video?
