IMAC Double Build, Carden Pro 124" Extra 300 40%

Dirt

50cc
The front piece that I mentioned is the piece at the front where the fuse sides are glued to (I hate to end a sentence with a preposition) because after you glue on the 1/4" balsa it's hard to see where the blind nut goes. The way the cowl formers are cut there is just barely enough room for the bolt if you don't do some exact measuring!!

Wanted to demonstrate something. This is the way I made the holes in the fuselage side sheeting.

After the stab tube and wing tube supports are glued on, then the truss is sheeted, the two holes need to be made.

I did this using a circular saw, in reverse, and backing it with another scrap balsa sheet.

For the wing tube, I used the 1.5" diameter circular saw, with no pilot bit. The actual hole is bigger than this, but at least enough to open in up.

this is after going thru it, but not thru the balsa back up sheet.

here is the hole before sanding it round.

I then used a drum sander, that is 1 & 5/8" diameter, and was able to finish it off, so that the tube fits thru.

This is the set up for fuselage #2. The hard points have now been put in, before glueing FS to the motor box.

I have also made the tail wheel plates, with blind nuts, and all ready to glue in as well.

Soon, the FS will be glued to MB#2.

I am almost done with fuselage #2. Soon, it will be time to begin sheeting all the foam. I will wait til I get my last remaining parts for the Dalton, so that I can do the Dalton wings, and the two sets of wings for these Cardens, and then I can finish up all three planes together.

Are all the cross braces gusseted or only those shown toward the rear of the plane?

Hello Tony, so far, I am doing it exactly as the plans and per the manual. I have not added any additional bracing. Should I?

I will review the other threads to see what others have done. From what I recall, Dave Dixon did a significant amount. If I can find it, I will post the picture of his.
