Edge or Yak for first giant scale?

Getting my first giant scale. Looking at a 30cc Edge, a 50cc Edge or a 50cc Yak54. Lots of high wing experience, but all 60-sized. Ultimately I want the Yak, but wondering if that is a bad choice to start off with to start learning 3D.

Should I start with the Edge and then move to a Yak later? Or just go with the Yak on low rates and increase them as I get used to the plane?

I'd go straight to something in the 50-70cc range.

Good timing also with some of the Black Friday sales. Extreme Flight has 10 percent off right now. The 88" Edge 540 or 91" Yak 54 would be great choices............the Edge probably is the better choice for learning 3D.

Also with you being in Atlanta, you are an easy drive to the EF warehouse so you could save some of the shipping other than your time and gas money.

Yep, Extreme Flight is where I'm going. Just need to decide whether to start with the Edge or just go straight to the Yak before the sale ends. One idea was go with the 30cc Edge first, and save some money towards the Yak. But all the recommendations are to go straight to the 50. So having hard time deciding which way to go.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. If you want a Yak then buy it.

A bit of friendly advice, if this is your first gasser then when in doubt, ask. You can find a lot of help here. If your field is like mine, then you probably have guys that are going to give you advice weather you ask for it or not. Some of it good, some of it probably not. The guys here on GSN wont steer you wrong.

I love my 91 yak, I will say that if you want to learn 3d the bigger plane is the better choice every thing happens slower, plus you really won't have that much more money tied up in it in the end

I fly a 100cc yak and love it. Easy to fly and land. I will always have a yak.
