EF 48" Laser EXP

I had to throw in two more flights and I tried some KE spins. It took me a few attempts to find the sweet spot, but once I did... Wow!

My only complaint is that the plane is pretty hard to see. The 3 inch difference in size makes a difference.

sounds similar to my day NJswede. First flight of the morning i piled in my 48" MXS...totally destroyed the front of the plane.

Laser maiden went awesome. Ended up with 6 packs through it. Your right about the harrier entry too. The tail on this plane flips around extremely fast though, i was consistently getting 3 rotations on my pop tops without issue and 2-3 flips on the horizontal KE spins. Love this plane alot and now with the mxs gone i can get another extra so i will have two awesome 48" planes to fly.

glad the maiden went well.... I suppose it's a appropriate now.... TOLD YA! :)

Quality and a proven design works. Shocking! :) But ok, I'll give you a point for this. It's without doubt the best plane I've flown. Not that my other planes aren't fun, great planes, but the problem is that they all do something really well and other things really poorly. The Laser does everything well. (With a little question mark on upright harriers. There's a certain alpha where is has significant wing rock, but once you've past that, it's rock solid.)

Sorry to hear about your MSX! At least my Sabre X is fixable and I think I have all the pieces. Just like a 3D puzzle, right? :)

Yeah, it really sounds like we've had the same experience. My favorite thing so far is just flying it around in KE flight. It's just slightly more difficult than upright. Seriously!

And BTW, the performance of the DM2820/750 on a Xoar 14x6 is just mind blowing! It hovers on 1/2 throttle and the vertical is insane. Highly recommended!

I think you will find it's rock solid one you get chance to fly it on a calmer day. The transition into harrier is a little trickier than, say, the EF Edge, but you just need to be on your toes to catch it if it drops a wing a bit. Once in the harrier it's as stable as anything I've flown.

I agree with you and that was my impression too. Having flown the Sabre X for a while, I've gotten a bit spoiled, since that plane has no discernible stall transition. Honestly, when I fly it slowly, I don't even know whether I'm stalled or not. It's just that smooth! Obviously, something like that comes at a price, and the tumbles and spins are nowhere near the Laser.

I just need to learn that there's a certain alpha I want to avoid. I *did* have a couple of close calls when the Laser dropped a wing.

Yep, you cant have it all ways.. If you make the wing totally tip stall proof (generally by using a low taper ratio) then it wont do snap manoeuvres. If you taper the wing more sharply then it will do great snaps but it will also snap when you don't want it to. I think the Laser has the compromise about perfect, even if it does snap a little it's easy to catch, but it got my pulse racing a couple of times too.

PS.. following your recommendation I might give the 14x6 a try and see how it compares with the 13x7.

Well, I have nothing to compare to, so maybe you won't find it as amazing as I did. But the power was more than adequate...

How many watts do you pull from your 13x7? I pull a 760-770W on a 14x6.

Surprisingly my records say i pulled higher watts by quite a margin. here's the numbers i have noted:

With the 13x7 Xoar:
8910 RPM
64A
983W
15.35V
3.5Kg thrust

What may be influencing this is that this was a while ago recorded with nice new Gens Ace batteries which held very high load voltage. Also it was recoded in very cold conditions (well below freezing) and at sea level, so dense air loads up prop a lot. this was also the initial 'burst' figures recorded with a fresh off the charger battery, numbers drop signification after several seconds. also Xoar props do tend to load motors higher than Vox (at some sizes at least).. it's Vox you are using, correct?

If I get chance I'll do a re test with batteries that have a hundred or so cycles, and slight warmer temps.
