Extreme Flight RC 91" Yak 54 build

dribar

70cc twin V2
Got to the field at five for the last hour of sun. Da70 fired right up and the yak flew beautifully. One or two clicks of up and one of left and all was well. Da70 seemed to be running a bit rich but no transition problems. I did have a bit of presidue in the tail.... Normal?

Didn't have enough time to check RPM but it felt so well I was just happy to get my two flights in. A couple of typical pics for you all.

Dude - you wouldn't believe how slow this thing can fly without stalling.... Just an amazing bird.

What prop have you ended up liking the best?

As you know, the DA70 provides more than enough power for this airframe. So much so, that you can prop up and gain performance. That said, I decided to try out the Falcon 25x8W carbon fiber prop and love it. I believe RKEstes posted a video a few pages back of Alex flying my plane. That video demonstrates two great characteristics of this prop; 1) incredible speed, 2) great torque and pull out power for low and slow maneuvers. For these two reasons I believe it is the best prop for this set up. The Falcon also comes with cool neoprene prop covers! The Mejzlik 24x10 carbon prop is outstanding, and would be my fall back solution.

Here is that video again.

Don't discount the Mejzlik 25x8evo. I ran that most of the season and preferred it over the Falcon which I also have. Both are good choices. If you want more speed than the 24x10TH is still tops.

Noted.

I flew on the redwing 24x8 again today still getting used to the plane. It seemed solid but not spectacular. Will try the carbon falcon next week to see how it feels.. In the meantime I'll order a mejz to have on deck.

Plane is so solid and predictable. Amazing bird.
