A big maintenance project that will shut down one of our main production lines starts mid Oct and they have us working weekends to get production ahead of schedule. I am holding out hope cuse I would really like to make it. I have seen other postings about this event and field and it looks like a great event.

What days are good to attend ? What days will you be there ?

By the way, I see that you are flying your Hawk 100. Looks good. Hope that you like it ?

I'll be there Thursday through Sunday, it's a great place to fly! The hawk flies great for a scale jet!

Don't be greedy Joe my wallet could use a little too. Just don't send any to Snap there is no telling what he would put it on.

Well, over the last week, I have gotten a few things done.

The fuel tanks had to be assembled and the fittings glues in. The one thing to watch out for, is the position of the fittings in the tanks.Make sure to allow for the fuse side fitting clearences on the saddle tanks and the wing tube clearence on the main tanks. I glued a small block to fuse sides to help keep the saddle tanks positions and a piece of wood under the tanks to help keep them from rocking in their position. The same was done on the main tank.

I was also able to get the intake, bypass and exhaust pipe ruffed in. I had earlier glued in the aft exhaus pipe support 7/16" from fuse end. I positioned the exhaust pipe to have a 3/16" overhang. When setting up for mountinf the bypass to the exhaust, you want to make sure this exhaust pipe position is kept.

I marked center lines on both end of the bypass and exhaust pipe so when mounting both together, they were straight in alignment. I used a laser line to adjust this. Then with a 1/2" of the bypass inserted into the exhaust pipe, I drilled 2 holes into the lower bypass section to assemble these parts. When trying to assemble the whole bypass into the exhaust opening, they would not fit. I found that there was a lip in the bypass halves that needed to be sanded smooth to get a tighter fit. But I also needed to used a dremel to sand down the 1/2" lip to allow the whole bypass to fit properly into the exhaust tube.

I then assembled the front intakes to check for proper fit to the front of the bypass. After making sure that there is enough overlap to all these parts, I put a couple small screws into bypass motor mount location so that I can keep this all alignment while I setup the front intakes. So, the front intakes will come next time I get back to building.

Well, it has been some time since my last post, but the build continued to completion. Just a few pics of the progress.
I was able to get in the maiden flight before my season came to an end and all went well. I was only able to get 2 flights, but with some fine tuning on my control throws, this is going to be a fun jet to fly. Looking forward to next flying season.
