Scale Giant Scale Tucano Phoenix Models

I have spent that last few weeks working on this plane. Had issues with its construction and lack of detailed instructions. Been a tough build. She is ready for the final rigging of FLT controls. Have to measure out the throws and adjust the rates. Then the decals and final touches before the eng run and break in on the ground.

Been work for work to much, and working on this plane. I have done two this winter Bart. I did a 35% Extra 300 that I got from Walt in PA. Both are going to Joe Nall in May. I did not see a Tucano there last year. Hope this can be a first.

i'll see you there, at Fairview (if they still have a field) and probably at NEAT if it isn't raining again!

Thanks Sleepy! If she flys as well as she looks it should be an eye catcher. I put a DLE 61 in her with a pitts muff. I had to cut the cowl a bit to make the front edge of the muff fit. I have been following a build thread on other sites. The planes fuse is in two pieces. It come with retracts, Some of the hardware is cheesey. Being an old aircraft mechanic on A10A's for 10 years, I wanted to make sure the hardware was correct.

Yesterday I decided to make myself a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. Rooted around in the fridge for some cheese and realized my wife had something in the neighborhood of 15 types of cheese in the fridge

And that pic is missing the 3 cheeses that were not in the "meat" drawer in the fridge...

But the point I'm trying to make is: If you really want to say it,,say it with cheese!

That plane is...

Some new pics. 99% there! I put my fathers name on the front Pilot. He was a NAV in WWII. C-47 and B-24 He will fly again! All connection in side the FUS are quick disconnects. She has a light kit in her. Strobs, nave lights, Landing lights, position lights.

Well it was maiden day. Two in one day. My Tucano, and my Extra 300. First the Tucano is a bullet! Very smooth movements. easy to fly, good at low speed (Without flaps). I did run into two issues. On her first flight, I lost the screw to the LT main strut that keeps it in. Pulled up the gear and the LT main was hanging low. We continued the flight at reduced speed. Gear down and a land. On her second flight, the spinner blew off, and I mean BANG! It was a Pete Model spinner. I am going to have to go with a true turn spinner now Again, continued the flight Only damage was to prop, scratches and some dings. I am going to replace the prop as I feel it may be out of balance. Plane weighed in at 28 Pounds on the mark. That was with a great deal of weight on the firewall.
I am doing her Post FLT inspection. Nothing is jumping out yet. Covering wrinkled in the sun. That I am making tight with a heat gun and rag.

My second was my 35% Hanger 9 Extra 300. Her parts came from my JTech Extra 300. Ran great and excellent pull out power.

Over all a great day to fly her in the NE area. Good weather and OK winds. Ill post more pics once my fellow club member sends them to me.
