Gluing removable stabilizers

I"ve got a brand new PAU Pitts Challenger that even has brand new MKS servos in it but I need a daily driver to knock the rust off before I maiden the Pitts! The Pitts is done, as in done done, but i'm a'scared to fly it!

tubes with screws that go through the sheeting and into the tubes. the tubes aren't as loose in the stabs as they are through the fuselage. maybe i'll just glue them into the fuselage and screw the stabs on for now. if it gets loosy loosy again i'll epoxy everything at that point.

i can always count on Herve to steer me right.

It's fairly easy to remove the play of the tube in the sockets.
You may consider modifying the way the stabs are secured to the fuse:
Glue L brackets to the bottom of the stabs, and install blind nuts in the sides of the fuse.

I had a hangar-9 Showtime .90-1.20 that had the stabs on that same way. I remember assembling that way back then thinking, there has to be a better way than THIS

i just got done epoxying the tubes into the fuselage. we'll see in the morning if it's better when the stabs are slid into place.

@Islandflyer the L brackets are a good idea, i'll keep that one on hand if it needs it so thanks for that.

i've used electrical tape to get tubes to fit better so maybe a little tape in the AM will be all it needs.

At least I put pull strings in it when I removed my servos. Try doing it with out them. LOL

I am not sure I have ever seen a setup like that but it sounds like I never want to

The tubes are tight in the fuselage thanks to the epoxy and the stabs are tight on the tubes so all is good in the world again. A little packing tape on two of the tubes helped tighten the fit but for now the stabs are partially removable.

I know of at least one big ARF that the stabs are glued in....the Hangar 9 Beast. Never had a need to remove them....although I'v never needed to remove any of my Extra/Raven stabs....except when we moved!

BTW Bart....I'd be happy to maiden your Challenger
