I got a little more done on he MX the past couple of days.
After preparing all of the sheeting for the stabs, wings, rudder and turtle deck I started on the hatch. The parts for the hatch consist of the laser cut base, formers and mounting tabs. Once the base is aligned and clamped to the top of the fuse the mounting tabs are placed into position and the 1/2 x 1/2 balsa stock is glued along the outside edges of the hatch base and mounting tabs. The three formers are then glued into place followed by the 1/4 x 1/4 stringers to form the top of the hatch. I stopped at that point with the hatch and set it aside so that I could sheet the rudder. I used some carbon fiber tape in a W pattern to add some stiffness to the rudder and along the hinge line. Once the rudder was in the vaccum bag I installed the wing and stab tube sleeves in the fuselage and the stabs. I checked the fit of the stabs to the sides of the fuse and they were perfect so no sanding was required for a flush fit to the fuse. Now it was time to sheet the stabs, again I used carbon fiber tape in the same W pattern as the rudder. I use West System 105 epoxy for all of the sheeting of the foam parts. I know I have not gone into a great deal of detail but please feel free to ask any questions of what has been done so far.
