Oh ive been found guilty of coveting gregs plane and the cool scheme , nice work and awesome finish at the worlds!
Hey Al, I was looking at pics from the beginning , remember how clean this shop was! Guess with time its inevitable the mess creeps up on you. LoL and thanks for the compliment, I plan on flying the hell out if this thing next year and for as many years as the toy gods allow !

Your still pretty clean compared to ours. I will be glad to clean your up if you will clean ours. Don't mind the aluminum dust from the muffler side mixed in with the Balsa dust here.
I have a 3.1 to finish framing up for a customer and if I can find some time pull Kevin's out of the trailer and fix the fuse where it got damaged at the worlds from someone being careless putting there plane away and right into Kevin's

And then disaster strikes. Too much heat and too thinly sanded balsa led to a deformation in the fin, yikes. Was a perfect covering . Stripped, cut balsa to le of fin, poly glued in new balsa, 1/4" deep pocket, planed , sanded, filled, sanded and covered again.

, cannot tell where the repair was done, happy again. Sorry, was too angry to get pics of damage prior to repair but believe me... it was BAD.

This is probably well know technique but to make a template to cover the turtle deck to the fin I used solder to copy shape to paper then transfer to covering. Works well for me, I wss trying to cut the template with paper but it wasnt very close.

Turtledeck done, this piece was the toughest to lay so far and glad its done.took all day.
