Kmp beaver build hing question

New to GSN!
Hi everyone I'm in the process of building a 95 kmp beaver. and as I'm shere anybody who has builds this bird has noticed the instructions are not the best. So I'm working on the control surfaces and hings. The instructions show corbon fiber inserts for the hing pins. Iv never seen that before and was wondering if anybody has. And if anybody's got any tricks tips on the beaver would be much appreciated

Interesting! I wonder if it's to move the hinge point away from the control surface gap. Is it on the tail as well? The full scale beaver has drooping ailerons and fowler style flaps. The intent is to increase the chord as they extend. I wonder if this is a way to do that. I've never seen this before.

Yep, did that myself a time or two. It is to move the hinge pivot point out away from the wing and deeper into the aileron. Your aileron should have grooves in the leading edge where the hinge is counter sunk. Figure out what method will work best for you in gluing it all up and keeping the rotation the same. You can't just glue one side or the other and then later the other side without some method of keeping it all aligned.

Ok thanks Acerc that's what I was thinking I'm trying to get as much travel out of the flaps but not have a huge gap. I'm not to impressed with the quality of everthing on this plane

They are the same on the tail. They look like Fowler style flaps. I was thinking they are to make the hing stick out and strengthen it up Iv got alot of clearance issues that i need to tend to to get the movement I want with still obtaining the nice fit I want

Well spent some time on my beaver last night lol ok that sounds bad hahah. Got corbon fiber inserts in and got the movements I was looking for. Will have to repaint but was going to do that anyways. Ended up flipping the flaps over I think they painted the wrong sides of flaps

Hello Blayne
I'am also building the KMP Beaver. Is your fire wall flat or recessed. My version has the fire wall recessed 2" from the front of the fuselage. No sure what size engine to use 26-35cc gasser with long stand offs. What engine are you planning to use. I'm from Winnipeg.
