Loctite "chapstick"

I got a sample of Loctite 248 at work. It is basically blue Loctite in a non drippy "chapstick", so no mess.

Yup. Been using it for years. No more running. But still pushes the compound towards the head of the bolt.

But still best practice is dropping a bit on the internal threads.

You can also get it tape form just like Teflon tape for piping. It very handy to use.

I've been looking for that for a long time at local HW stores and they never have it, I'm just going to have to order it.
