Why not use this method.
Socket head with bolts that have groves.
I'm using it with my 175.
Red silicone straight on the flange with no gasket.

Because if using mufflers, noise diverters, stock exhaust or whatever you want to call it, most times, if not all the time, you have bolts that go into the muffler itself.

Your right it's a muffler you can't do that it's too narrow to insert the bolt.
