Here’s a pic of how the D&B 5.1 fits, the stock D&B mufflers are angled in towards the center of the engine and exit the bottom of the cowl, then engine fits really nicely and like I said before has plenty of power. If you haven’t already I would do the option of making the rear stab adjustable as it shows you can do in the manual. Mine is not (I didn’t build mine a friend of mine did) and mine carries a lot of down elevator. Mine also has the full size 144” wing and it’s a handful on the runway in any sort of crosswind, I’d also build it clipped wing.
I'm heading to Lock Haven this morning for "Wings Over Piper" fun fly, image there will be many cubs there. The Cherokee in my avatar won "Best Piper Cub" award there in 2015. I plan to visit the Piper museum while I'm there, I understand there is a PA 22 on display that I plan to get photos of.
I have have 2 D&B 5.1 and 2 3.7 twins, really do like the ignition systems, wish more engines used similar advance systems rather than the common retard method.
