It is indeed a 1 directional toggle switch but I think I saw something about flipping the rotation in the owner's manual. I will have to find the manual.

Man you are going all out coping all the connection is a lot of work but it will make the connection solid. That is tedious work . But will look good when all done and then we cover it and nobody can see all the work you did.

I think coping will add a month to the project unless someone knows a quicker way. But I ain't butt joining.

Several years back I built a Cub out of dowels for a friend with the rear exposed. I made an adjustable jig pocked and used the dowels with 80 grit on the end to sand the pocket. I don't have it any longer or I'd post it but it was easy to make. Or, you could do a biscuit style pocket, sand the dowel flat on two side leaving a biscuit end and use a Dremel with a double cut off wheel to make a pocket for it, or a diamond bit to route it.
I also seen one where the guy did it like I noted on your image. He said the pin needed to be epoxied at the same time as the butt joint. It turned out to be quite strong and took a fraction of the time.
