looking to get my first real 3D plane, been flying for 12 yrs. last winters build was the gas Stinson Reliant from Redwing, so can't wait for this years build ...

Welcome here. After 12 years of flying RC, you should transition nicely into 3D. I think the trick is you have to want to do it in your heart. If its in your heart, the rest is easy, but it does take time and lots of practice.
