PAU 30% Sukhoi SU-26 ARF 50-60cc

No problem Russ, I love doing build threads (or assembly threads in this case) but we all understand.



Rest of the components:

- Carbon wing and stab tubes

- Carbon fiber landing gear, painted white to match scheme.

- Great lightweight canopy, vacuum formed with a wood sturcture inside.

- Wing area, aileron size all looks great

- Hey! It even came with wing bags....that are actually nice and even custom made for the fillet on the wing root!!!

Unpacking the hardware you will notice that there is some hardware that clearly comes from the factory and depending on the plane you will also get a packet of plane specific hardware that PAU puts in with the kit. This gives you a choice! Took my first couple of PAU planes to figure this out but it's a nice touch for them to include hardware from Du-Bro, titanium turnbuckles and axles from wheel collars that are all excellent quality. There is a set of scale side windows that you may have noticed in the full scale pics I posted previously. I'm going to install these because I like neat little touches, but they are not a requirement.



Also there is a well built carbon tailwheel and lightweight 3.5" main wheels.

I went over everything with an iron, opened up all holes (except side windows, I'm saving that for last).

I double checked with Herve on the gear because the manual still says aluminum, but this is one of the upgrades made on this last batch and they are definitely nice lightweight carbon. There is also a left and a right gear and it's hard to tell unless you stand them up. The flat edge goes towards the front.

I did some looking around in my bins and I found a 16oz fortitude tank that I won at some point, I've got these in my other ARF's so I'm going to use that. Shave a few ounces and no assembly required! I did buy a No Limitz spinner that I plan to use but just in case of CG I have a True Turn that is 3oz. heavier. The white No Limitz will look awesome in keeping with the scale looks so I'm going to take measures to try to make that work, if needed. Also in looking at some full scale pics this AM most of them go pants-less and I remembered I had these skylite aluminum rim wheels!! Looks like a perfect scale match!



Right now there appears to be an issue with the flag hanging straight down, so I'm pausing for a little gas burning intermission!

I have always liked the looks of the Sukhoi, and I am looking for a good 30% airframe…hmmmm! I do wish they had a 120cc version though!

I was torn between the Sukhoi or the Edge.

I ended up with the Edge, but can join the step by step build of the Sukhoi.
