PAU Extra 300sp 50cc

I'm still thinking about getting one of these. IMHO, they are the best looking 50cc Extras available and they are a sweet flyer to boot. Maybe I'll get one next fall and put it together over next winter.

But what about the Laser?????

Laser? What Laser? Oh yeah, the one in my avatar. . . . . . . Believe it or not, I'm still planning on flying it this year. Of course that means I'm going to have to get off my a__ and get to work on it. Today was the first day I've had off in almost a month. So what did I do, sat in the chair in the living room all afternoon and slept. . . . . Tomorrow, I'm going to the flying field. Haven't decided if I'm going to take my Kaos or not.

That sure is am awesome plane...I get to take my time with it a little DA has the motor and waiting for that to come back with a clean bill of health..

Ok here is what I was able to get done over the weekend.

Complete unboxing.


Installed hardware on rudder and glued rudder to fuse.



Glued the elevators to the vertical stabs.


Glued Ailerons to the wings. Still Drying..


Installed the Rudder Servo, Pull Pull Cable and tail wheel.

I was able to get some more work done one the plane last night.

The wings are all hinged.



I was able to get the Elevators completed and on the plane...


So hopefully tonight I will get the wings done..

I also got the replacement cowl from PAU last night. This one is in perfect shape. Great Customer Service!!!

Update from the last couple of Days

I installed the servos into the wings and setup linkages..



Also installed the landing gear and wheel pants.



I am at a point to where I am waiting for the motor to get back from DA.

Today the motor will be with DA 2 weeks, so I am hoping any day.

I'm hoping to order this kit in the next few weeks myself. What is your impression of the kit? All the surfaces straight, no warps? How was the covering? I realise its an arf and there is always wrinkles and acclimation to ones climate but was the covering just thrown on or was there some effort by the manufacturer to get the covering somewhat shrunk? My friend just got a pau viper and I was really impressed that the covering was as tight and wrinkle free as it was. It is an awesome looking kit and I can only hope that this extra is as good.

Can't speak for all of them but I know my covering was pretty good. As always make sure to iron all the little stripes and points especially. Sure wish I could get out to fly it is all. I have a feeling we are going to go directly from cold / windy to hot / humid here.
