Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

@Tavis is building a 122" Pilot RC Extra, as well. He's 3/4 of the way done. He's got 18 servos in it @Terryscustom , haha. Anyway, he noticed something about the rudder tray... that even though the tray itself is stout... what it is mounted to is not. He told me he could move the whole tray 1/8" by pushing down on the pull/pull cables. When I got home from work I checked mine and it was a little worse than his (presumably since I have already flown mine). I'm wondering if this is why I always thought these planes hunted around on knife edge? Anyway, we both fixed it with carbon fiber rods... I went one former back and he went two. It don't move now. ;)

Some trivia... I've stopped using conicals for the most part. I'm using locknuts now. :)

I also decided to program my Hitec brushless elevator servos on my Sukhoi (for whatever reason). I used the Brushless Programming dongle and software program. It has a "RC Mode" feature where you check with your radio whilst you're programming. I didn't notice it until I was done so I'm not sure it is WYSIWYG, but I'm excited to check now.

Looks good Joe! Graphics will really be sharp!!

Hope you get the engine troubles sorted. That thing needs to be in the air!

I think I never responded to this? Sorry @WMcNabb ! :) It did need to be in the air, and I'm glad it's got 10 flights on it now! Gonna try out that stiffened up rudder tray mounting tomorrow, hopefully!

Or it just means you need to slow it down and fly that knife edge lower and more alpha :epic:

Tavis's plane is completely different. It is my big aileron thin wing, thin tail section extra so it requires lots of servos.
The only time I ever noticed one of my 6 Pilot Extra's hunt on KE is when I had it to tail heavy. The Pilot Extra does not need to be tail heavy to fly all out 3D. In fact mine are all just slightly nose heavy.

haha! The new one does high alpha knife edge much better than the old one... more servos is the ticket! hehe I had 2 on the old one, 3 on the new one, and Tavis went with 4 on his! I could probably use 4 meeself!
