Flew in a t-shirt until 6pm... not a breath of wind... this plane really loves no wind... anyway, it was awesome. Funny, I now have as many flights on it with a red hatch as I had on the stock scheme. lol

Fly until you need to use your IBEC light to find your plane. haha

Hi fellows....just joining the "330sc's club".

I was flying a Carf 330sc for almost 4 years, unfortunately crashed a couple weeks ago.
Now I have no budget for a new carf, so looking around, I found that the Pilot 330 122" is an excellent option, so she is already "on her way home".

Set up will be:
GP176evo
Proflow canisters (optional, not yet decide)
Jeti Radio System
Savox 2290sg x 8 (or x 11?)
Emcotec smoke pump
...and of course, a lot of bling bling

If I may, I have some doubts, that those already more experienced with this plane could certainly comment.

My first question is about the number of servos to use, 3 per wing, 2 per stabilizer, or 2 per wing and 1 per stab ???

My carf (which was arround 42lbs) had 8 servos, 500+ ounces per servo and plenty of authority.

So, there is some reason (structural, maybe) so I should use 11 servos !!! ???

Hi Julio! One per stab turned out to be great. But, after running both 3 per aileron and 2 per aileron, I think 3 per aileron on this plane is the way to go.

Carf ailerons don't flex like wooden ARF's. Plus Carf ailerons normally aren't as big.

Soooo......3 servos on the rudder??? I had never seen a rudder of this size

Just offering a suggestion from my experience. I ran one 7954 on each elevator of my SD 260. Not quite 500 oz. But still plenty strong. I did get blow back so I opted to go with one 7950 on each elevator. Two 7950's on each aileron. They are 486 oz. No more blow back. I can't say with certainty, but I believe the new 330 has as big or bigger elevators as my 260. On my Sukhoi, two 7950's on ailerons, two each elevator and two each on the rudder. 9380's would be awesome but I doubt you'd need anything more than two 7950's. The Sukhoi is fierce with precise control. My son runs two 7950's on the rudder of his 43% Edge. That thing is just big. The rudder on the new 330 is quite large. However nearly 1000 oz. combined in two servos should be more than enough.

Of course setup truly depends on intended flying style. IMAC and precision flying, you could run two 7954's for ailerons, one for elevator and two for rudder and you would most definitely have more than enough servo power. 3D or sport flying, not even enough in my opinion.

If I were putting that plane together, (Just my preference) I would put 7950's throughout and forget about it.

Julio, I have probably built more than 15 of these which includes about 6 for myself.
It's a great flying plane that is meant more for the low and slow 3D but will do everything. I have done both 3 and 2 servos per aileron. For low and slow guys 2 is fine but faster snap require 3 in the aileron. One on each stab is fine no matter what your style. I have done one plane for someone with three servos on the rudder and see no need for that. Two is fine. This plane will react very different to what you want it to do based on balance. Play with the balance and find your sweet spot. I like it balance dead even on the money. The GP (if a newer version) will pull it around fine but the cans will make it nose heavy so be sure to compensate for that. I like to customize it and put the rudder servos in the fuse tail for a push/pull system on the big rudder. This will help compensate for the cans also. Pilot makes outstanding planes but keep an eye on your hinges. I replace all the ones I build with Robart pin hinges. The factory ones on certain planes depending on when they were built are a little week and can break.

On push/pull two 9380's are way strong. Two will work on pull/pull, as well. But, it was better on pull/pull when I went to three 9380s. It's a BFR.
