Scale PJ 295 build.

Well now that the snow has started to fly it's time for me to start building. The plane I'm building is a PJ 295, an early 1960's biplane. It is also a very old kit that was given to me by Wayne Haldenby. a friend It was produced by Trillium Balsa, a company that used to be in Tillsonburg Ontario many years ago. Wish they were still around!
Fisrt part of the build was to build the side frames, weird part was the manual said to build the second side frame right over top of the first! I have never heard it being done that way so I just built both sides over the plans, worked out well. No left or right at this point.

Added a die cut 1/8 sheet lite ply to both sides, this is what made a left and right. Joined to two together.

Cross braces going in and gluing the tail together.

This is an old style kit and did not have a top canopy hatch which I really wanted. Had to cut and shape extra formers to be able to make the canopy deck removeable. Had to make a few new formers.

This plane was built to take a lot of abuse! I could not see the point of having all that lite ply in the first half of the fuse, I drew out what I felt I could remove.

Here you can see the cut outs from the ply and the beginnings of the canopy hatch. This is how far as I have gotten to date. Have had a very busy week, dealing with four feet of snow was not fun!! To early.

And now I'm at the firewall. I have a question for the guys whom have built a bipe. The plans do not show any right or down thrust. I have never built a plane without. Is this normal for a bipe? Or should I add some? Maybe not down but two or three degrees of right?

Looking good. Trillium Balsa yes I missed them as well. Bought a lot of balsa from them.
