I swore off four strokes after throwing money away on an OS 120 Surpass. My buddy and I both bought one and they were both total piles of crap. I still have both of them. I had a 70 Surpass that ran fine, but the 120's never would run worth a damn.

I think mine was a 70 FL. I still have it somewhere.

@stangflyer
Someone just listed a brand new 82b on that other site.
Thanks Mike. It is a really good deal if a guy is interested in...in...oh crap, I gotta say it. Glow. LOL. Just not for me. Funny thing about them O.S. Surpass motors. The 70 was a "clock". Between my son and I, we had many of them. He still has one after many, "MANY" years and it still starts and runs like a brand new motor. Just ticks right away. But the 120? Uh yeah, not so much. Complete waste of money. It would be better to just light a match to your money. About the same result in the end. I had one many years ago on a Carl Goldberg Extra 300. Never could get it to run right. That is until the day the plane nearly met its demise. The one and "ONLY" time it ran was the day it was headed straight for a billboard we all called the "plane magnet". I mashed the gas and surprisingly it took off and saved the plane. Not before however the sign ripped off the landing gear and literally spilled the entire guts of the plane out into open air. Rx., battery, smoke pump...everything was hanging out of the belly of the plane. Ah but even back then I had my moments of great saves. Flew it around until I decided just how I was going to land that bird without totally destroying it. Ah, but wait...next to our runway/access road was a field of very tall weeds. Yeah, you know what I did huh? Brought it around on final and landing the plane into the very tall weeds. After retrieving the plane from what could have been a certain and permanent death, the only damage was the "sign" damage. I promptly took the plane home and did a little minor repair, stuffing the guts back into the belly. Recovered that section and put the landing gear back on. I then "SOLD" the plane "Aaaaaannnd" that no account Surpass 120. That was when I went to Saito engines. Never had a problem from that moment on. I will go so far as to say, "yes....they were known for tossing props." But the fix was easy. I just simply double nutted every one of them and never had a tossed prop from that moment on.

Just one question did you have the OS120 installed upside down.

After that it was in a Goldberg Ultimate for a short time, also sideways. My buddy had his in a Great Planes Super Sportster mounted upright.

Love that plane, that is one my favourite colour schemes, black, purple, blue and then white. Most of my 1/12 racing car were painted.
Ok about the engine I have had a few OS 120 when installed upside down I have never been able to get them to run right but at 90 degree ran great, just like in your planes. Pity you could not get them to run.
